DE and HR - same idler pulley?
So my idler is going out. I found the part online. However, I also ran into the same part number for the Altima (I'm assuming it's for the 3.5 DE).

As you can see, the Altima part is $45 cheaper. Is it the same pulley or not?

Mine went bad on my hr and all I did was replace the bearing , cost $10-$15 and its really easy to do. You should be able to get bearings at a local auto parts store just bring them yours so they can get you the right size

I think what 2bad240 meant was to completely eliminate the pulley all together and run a smaller belt. Im not sure if you have an HR or DE engine, i know DE guys do the idler pulley delete but i dont think ive seen/heard HR owners do it, but i could be wrong since I've never really looked into it. Make sure to take care of that as soon as possible mine squealed at first which progressively got louder, then the bearing seized, thd way nissan designed it is when it seizes the engine turning will actually completely unscrew the bolt holding that pulley to the motor dropping the pulley to the floor, luckily mine happened at idle so i could find all my pieces on the belly pan lol, drove to the parts store without running a serpentine belt and changed the bearing. Sorry for the short story lol

I wonder, if that's safe. Putting different load on the pulleys to the left and right of the idler. I'm sure it was engineered like this for a reason...
