Default V-8

I don't see why they couldnt do it. Look at the vette, 3200 lb.s, 436 hp, mid $40's. I would choose the 370Z with a V8 just because Im far away from my midlife crisis(saving the vette for that). That would be perfect competition. I'd pay low $40's easy.

But agreed.. Doubtful to get that motor here. Heck it was only limited to 300 cars in japan.

I got that number from the website I got the pic's from.

I dunno, this may not be such a wacky notion any longer. Prior to seeing the pics with the two very hoods on the 370 I laughed at stuff like this. But, whatever, like many have said its all speculation until its unveiled. But image that FX50 motor in thing? OMG, it would be like an effin Elise with a huge 6 cylinder!

Good point with the two camo cars, one with a hood bulge. Question is the bulge part of the camo?
Who knows

I do remember someone that said they went to a focus group mentioning that the speaker kept saying that we will be surprised about the engine.

well it is kind of simple to eliminate options since 370 is tied to the engine displacement, or have people not figured that out, so it would have to be a 3.7L V8

Honestly, we're hitting the Z's 40th anniversary, so anything's possible. Besides, all existing evidence shows that Nissan's covering all of its bases and creating rivals for just about every sports car available. The GT-R's already outperformed 911 Turbo and most certainly outperformed Z06, and the V-Spec is suspected to outperform the ZR1... So why wouldn't Nissan develop an alternative to the Corvette C6? I think it's very possible for there to be both a 370Z and a 500Z this upcoming model year.

Or it would have been seen as a possibility had the maintenance manual not come out clearly stating 370Z over and over again with no mention of a different Z model.

In that case, I withdraw that comment.

I don't think why not. Nissan already went after Porsche guys with the GTR, they might want to go after the the Corvette (not the Z06 though) guys too. I would rather own a V-8 Z than a Vette.

I rather they go after the cayman S than the corvette... a V8 is not the answer for everything, a high output v6 will do just fine. The 911 has been doing well with six cylinders for decades, lower the weight instead (which looks like they are doing). For the torque junkies the corvette is already out there.

I remember reading in a car mag..that the 350z was designed to compete with the BMW z4 and Porsche its cheapest model don't recall the name...fact of the matter is that though the Z produces better numbers power and performance wise... its weight really makes a difference compared to the two the rivals..so the 370z is going to be shorter and lighter to really be able to take the crown in that class... now as far as the V8 model people are talkin about... I had also read that nissan is designing one either the 440z or 480z and it was going to be v8..now the part of the article that I remember so clearly was reading the part that said this model would be "awd to safely put the power to the ground"... I believe it was a car and driver mag..my step father has a sub and anything about the z or skyline he shows me... none the less that's my 2 cents
