A lot of it has to do with the Engine IMO.

Back in 2002, 287hp from a V6 was MIGHTY, and most sports cars, even the Vette (350hp) were closer to the Z in HP and performance, at $20K more sticker... It was a Spectacular, high power car at a value.

Fast Forward just a few short years and now the V8's are making 400+hp in most cars and the price is the same, or even less than the Z. Sticking with the V6 really limits what they can do, even Porshe has a hard time pushing over 400hp with a V6, ditto a production Nissan.

To keep up, Nissan really needed to Cram a Small V8 in the Z or Go FI and keep the 30K entry point.

Spec'd out, I am certain a 370Z will be close to $50K with all options.. Granted its a loaded car, but a fully loaded SS Camaro will be $36K, not to mention a Loaded Challenger, Shelby Mustang or Vette... Where is the value there?

To your point.. no one (or a VERY small percentage) of us really know anything at this point. It will be fun as the actual test and comparos start coming out.

Agreed...But it is fun to speculate lol though it has gotten out of hand lately.

I was shocked at the SRT8's beating we took....When he added the exhaust and headers it was merciless to anything not TT'd and even then he edged my friend out in his tt Z....I dont know if its the combination of tranny and gearing but they are deceptively fast up top stock especially for the weight...The single turbo Z's that he beat were convertable Z's so that might have mattered in the race vs them....His SRT8 now has ported heads and cams along with a computer and the breathing mods...He ran a Gallardo and was neck and neck with it all the way up to about 150+ from what they told me....
