Arrow Block heater removal

Just found out all Canadian 350Z come with a block heater installed. Anyone know how to uninstall it? Can you? I don't have a service manual, does anybody have one? Would you be able to get me the page somehow, don't think I'll be needing the block heater with our weather.

What does block heater do? Why they are not required in the States? And is it better if removed?

Thx.

I've got the service manual and I'll try to find out how to remove it. Why do you want to remove, might I ask? Weight issue?

Block heater is for those Eastern and northern folk. When it drops to -15 or so the engine has this way of freezing solid. There is no way to start it at all, so most manufacturers provide Canadian cars with block heaters to keep the block at a reasonable temp so you can start it in the morning. If you ever travel back east you'll see that most parking lots have plug in power polls. Check your front grill, look on the right side for the zip tie, that's where the plug is for the block heater.

I just don't see the need for it. I doubt it would save any weight but I know I'll never use it so I figure 1lbs is 1lbs.

Hey you got my vote, I'll remove it to, if I find its there. Vancouver owners definitly do not need it.

Haven't been able to find it in the service manual. Its not under coolant systems or engine systems in the SM.

The block heater is dealer-installed.

You should be able to ask your dealer to NOT install it prior to delivery. If you already have your Z, then you'll need to rip out all the wiring and replace the block heater plug with the original block frost-plug that was replaced.

And why do you want to go through all this trouble again.......?
