Default Need help from other Z folks- tires

Fellow Z owners- I need new rear tires after 34K miles. (Nissan replaced my fronts after about 25K miles due to uneven wear.) Don't you just love turning off the traction control? Anyway, I want a quiet tire that will handle, and I want to get the best deal I can get. What do you guys suggest for quiet ride, price, and handling? I plan to buy online and then find a reputable installer. Your help is appreciated, and anyone who doesn't wave to a fellow Z owner is just not worthy, IMHO.
ZYaL8er,
Mike
P.S. Does anyone know a wide open space in the Houston area where I can get some tire smokin' footage of my Z in action prior to the tire replacement?

i went with falkens but thats with rims and plus sizing as well. and they are supposed to be great for their price, one of the most affordable high performance tires. they are a touch on the noisy side though. i have heard great things from the pilot sports as well as the s-03's.

main thing is use the internet to maybe get a price and see if your dealers around you will match it. thats what they did for me. then i did not have to worry about getting the tires to the installer. cause we all know the Z doesnt carry much in the way of luggage, let alone tires. later.

Do you live in Pensacola or Houston? If it is Pensacola then we should meet up some time. As for your question the best you can do is go to www.tirerack.com and read the peoples opinions of the tires that have actually owned them.

Thanks for the help so far folks. King- I live in Perdido Key, but am on a temporary assignment in Houston. The Z is here in Houston with me- couldn't stand to leave it home. I should be bringing it back P'cola way in February. Would appreciate hearing about Z events in our area.

If you want a quiet, comfortable max performance tyre, then consider the Goodyear GS D3's. I swapped out my RE040's which were very loud and noticed a significant lowering of road noise. Also, the ride improved as the D3's have a softer sidewall than the 040's. But if anything, the handling improved with the D3's taking corners at higher speed than the 040's ever did. The only downside is that you will loose a little bit of steering feel, but for me that was not such a big tradeoff as I no longer have to fight the steering wheel as the D3's dont tramline like the 040's did. Finally, the D3's are streets ahead in performance in the wet compared to the 040's.
