Default Toyo T1s?

How good are these in the rain (scale of 1-10)? I live in the Chicago area and am concerned with wet traction/hydroplaning.
I don't care much about durability but high-speed cornering/handling.
Are Toyo's Japanese?

How do the toyo's compare to these:

I have 245/275 toyos and they handle just fine in the rain, you just have to be careful accelerating around corners, as you do in every high-powered RWD car.

Thumbs up

I had the Toyo's and they are great tires but the Michelins spank them. And the Michelin PS2's are amazing in the rain anyone who has them and drove in the rain with em knows what i mean.

the T1-S is a great tire but my opinion is pretty biased since the tire dealer we buy from pretty much only stocks toyos haha. had them on a fwd turbo eclipse, that was great. Now on the Z, it hugs hard in the past socal storms we had.

They've gripped better in rain than my stock RE040's do in dry weather.

I hydroplaned at 30 mph and totaled my last car with these tires on. Never buying them again.

Toyo's don't perform well in the rain. But they're awesome dry weather tires. I have T1-S on my Z and I had Toyo Proxes on my SUV, they're great, but again, only in dry weather.

if toyo isn't good in the rain, look for goodyear f1 gs-d3. so far they have one of the best rating in the rain in the tirerack.com
