Default iForged lip - clear coated or bare metal? help

Having trouble telling if the lips on my iForged wheels are clear-coated or bare metal. I can see a load of scratches even after cleaning them.

If I place my finger on the lip it'll leave an impression for a few seconds and disappear (like stainless steel). Does this mean it's bare metal?

Any ideas?

some are clearcoat, some are bare metal. take some metal polish and 'lightly' rub it on the rim. if the cloth starts to turn black, they aren't clearcoated.

Thanks for the help.

Is there a method I can use to tell without using the metal polish test?

The other day, I had cleaned the lips with a product called 'Wheel Wax' (which is safe for clear and non-cleared surfaces). Cleaned the wheels up nicely, but the scratches and visual blemishes in the lip seemed even more discernible.

the problem is the rag you are using. even cotton is too rough. use flannel.

It's not the rags. I use the DF concours towels. The wheels came scratched up before they were even mounted. My last set of iForged was the same way.
