haha.. okay here is a better response. 20s are huge... they look nice, no doubt about it. but the ride height becomes fairly bumpy. basically u sacrifice comfort for style. 19s, on the other hand, are a nice size, and ride softer. i think most ppl on this forum would advise you to get 19s. however, what i have noticed is that no matter what, ppl eventually want bigger wheels. so if it were me who was about to make a 3500-4000 investment in wheels and tires, i would go for 20s. the main reason is that you will never feel like your wheels are too small. its as good as you can get. rims should be a one time investment with alot of thought put into it, especially when you are going to be spending alot of money.

Just remember that the bigger you go, the farther your rotational mass is from the hub, thus the more power it takes to get the car rolling. Also, 20's tend to be fairly thin, so if you have bad roads in your area, you might think about something a little more robust.

I personally think 20's are a little over the top, but that's just my opinion.

19's are the way to go but if you care alot about tackling tracks and other misc items look into 17 or 18's

why stop at 20's?

go for 21's!

hell, get your Z lifted and go for 24's

even better yet, get your Z lifted and get some rims with negative 200mm offset so they stick out like 6 inches from the body

that'd be sweeeeeeeet man, totally pimp and bling

i used to think the same thing, only until i saw 20 inch volks. 20s look overdone in general, but it seems like with volk wheels, the quality was made for a 20 inch wheel. i used to always advise against 20s, until i saw z with 20" volk gtc. another thing, alot of the guys on this forum who have done alot of visual work to their z's (full body kits, rather than lips) have sold their 19s, so they can get 20s. if you are planning to add a body kit, i would definitely go with 20s.

Tekneq, any pictures of your TSW thruxton? I'm looking for new wheels and although I was going for the more expansive models (something made by Ray's Engineering for example), I'm starting to consider the cheaper ones now... How do you like yours? What size did you get? And which tires did you put on them?

Thanks

i got axis 20's and they fit PERFECT. everyone gives me compliments and you cant even tell they are 20s on the car. the Z has really spacious wheel wells. also, the total diameter of the wheel is not far from stock 18's, i measured it. you lose tire but gain alot of rim. just my opinion. the ride isnt bad either

Firstly, common Noob mistake (there IS a wheels section after all). Now that I got that out of the way......Sorry to hear about your ride, $2,500...ouch! One thing that hasnt been mentioned is that bigger rims/tires are harder to stop also. When I went from my stock 18s to my 19" Volks, I could tell a definate lack of breaking force in comparison. If you were to put 20s on, it would be even worse.
