Default Tire Advice, Please help.

Hey folks,

I have an 04 touring with stock 18's...just a little over 19,900 miles. Today I noticed the inside edge of my front tires are totaly bald. I have always had considerably road noise, but assumed that was normal.

I am going to buy 4 new tires, and need advice on what to get...year round use, rare snow driving (if at all). I want some tires that are quieter than the oem's.

Also, does anyone know if I buy tires online, like through tirerack.com, will Nissan mount them, or would I be better off going to someone else? Same for alignment...is Nissan the most likely to fix the alignment problem (feathering) or should I find a performance tire shop?

any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Brace

I just had my Nissan dealer mount my new Kumho tires from TireRack on my car.
No problems - $15/wheel to mount and balance.

I've heard for a year- round performance tire that does well in wet and dry and is basically an great tire to get is the bridgestone potenza's ... which set would be your call... they have a few different ones... but i've heard good things and every time I watch a best motoring international DVD most of the cars run potenza's for some reason too.

Brace33,

Sounds like you should be able to get Nissan to replace your front tires. This is the exact problem I had--the insides of the front tires were very worn while the outsides were ok after 19k miles--and I took it into the dealership. What may have helped my case is that the dealer performed an alignment on my car at about 15k miles, but if you haven't had anyone else touch your alignment I would think you would be covered. I would definitely try taking it back to the dealer.

If you have an 03, Nissan will replace for free up to 21,000. (I just took mine in on Friday.) I don't know about 04, though.
