fugly tires!!!!
well like most guys and gals in this section of the thread i dropped a few g's on some nice aftermarket rims and rubber, 19's. and whenever possible i try to keep them looking sharp. Fresh wash and tire shine. The armor all stuff, foam action. Found that the spray stuff would get on the brakes and thats not good.
I have the Falken 451 or something like that and now every time it rains, the tires look like ****!!! Dull grey rubber. I am guessing that this is a result of the spray and not of the tire itself, some type of corrosive. Am I right??? Is there another way of getting that nice black shine on nice days without having to have the rubber look like crap on rainy days? Cause its that time of year here in Ohio, "April showers bring May flowers", and my tires look like crap 5 out of 7 days a week now!!!

From my experience, regardless of what those tire shine people say, and advertise, if you put tire shine on tires, it will turn them like that. I have tried soooo many different kinds, they all eventually brown out. So your gonna have to keep using the stuff, and live with it on rainy days. Scrub your sidewalls with a brush and soap and see if that gets rid of the nasty brownness, in the past Ive done it to new tires with not shine, and its helped some.....good luck.
personally i don't like it when the tires look shiny. i use tire wet. i go around the car spraying it on all the wheels very quickly, then immediately go around again wiping it off w/ rag. the tires look clean and black, but not at all shiny. i only do it once or twice every couple months. works for me.
Turtle Wax Tire Gel is very good. I was never much for the tire shine stuff till I tried this. Stays on the tire...no sling onto car. Last a good 2 weeks depending on how many washings (no rain for my car so that could effect how long it last). Best part is you put it on with the foam tire pads and the longer you leave it the more shine you get. I take it off almost immediately and get the nice black with not to much shine. It really shines if you leave it on for 10 minutes before wiping the excess off. I agree that every now and then you need to get out the cleaner and a brush and go to town on those puppies to keep them from browning out.

If you get any make sure it's water based and doesn't have silicons. Some good ones if you want matt black and not shiny greasy look as if some one dipped the tires in some vaseline are Megs Endurance (the one in the black bottle, not the high gloss stuff) it's what I use, I never had problem with it, it lasts about 3-4 weeks. If you want more gloss with it apply it second time 15min later after first application.
Another good one that I've seen photos on autopia is Michelins 3 in 1 tire shine, it's very nice matt black, no gloss at all. It has the look of brand new tires. Aparently the wheel cleaner and brake dust repllant are excelent as well. They are not available in australia so I've not tried it yet.
Another option that got good reviews on autopia was Mother Reflection Tire Care, I'm going to try this next time. Unless I get hold of the Michelin product first.
For high gloss (the vaselin look) you can get Mothers FX Tire shine, aparently that lasts quiet a while. I've no idea about other products since I'm not into that look.
EDIT:
I've forgot that 303 Aerospace Protectant is good, but it's not cheap. I only use it on the interior.
This might give you few ideas:

I use Turtle Wax's Tire Wax... This seems to last longer than any spray or foam, even through a few rainy days. This won't sling off and get all over your car like most sprays will.
