im so pissed at nissan north america...i've been trying to deal with them for about 2 months and a couple days ago they told me that tehy couldn't help me with my front tires. only 16,000 miles on them but i am over the 2 year period. i told them taht i have low miles and dont drive in the winters and that its not a daily driver so i should be covered becasue its a flaw within the design. after 2 months of stalling and not returning my calls they finally call after i complained to the supervisors supervisor. its so sad the lack of responsibilty on their part. they are just trying to save money but in the long run they are going to lose so much more

anyway..sorry for the vent. since i have to buy 2 new front tires, i was wondering how bad it was to put my two rear tires in the front and then buy 2 new tires for the rears. i will try to keep the stagger by getting 275's for the rears. thanks in advance for any responses

Take it to a different dealer, and they'll probably hear the noise, replace the tires, and bill Nissan.

I'm not sure what it means the "original in-service" date, but I got my tires changed after almost 2.5 years after the time I bought my car, and I didn't have to pay. (I didn't stress anything about two years, but I told the dealer Nissan would replace the tires for free until 21,000 miles.)

If that doesn't work, I definitely wouldn't put the bigger wheels from the rear on the front. You can get two brand new tires that fit the front for around $200 on tirerack.com, and leave the rears the same if you just want to save money, and have them mounted for $20.

i brought it to the dealer and they told me that i couln't be coverd and they suggested that i call nissan north america= 1800nissan-1 so i did and thats who i dealt with. the dealer wanted to cahnge the tires for me and felt my pain but he told me that he couldn't do anything until nissan said ok

does this also apply to the g35 coupe? my front tires howl at 20-30 mph.. it just happened recently... i have about 10k miles

Did they say why not? As far as I know:

that letter + an 03 Z with under 21k = two front tires


I would forget about the 800 number. I honestly can't remember them ever helping anyone with anything!

The dealer will try to use his Jedi mind tricks to get rid of you, but I'm pretty sure you can get new tires if you try a little harder.

I wouldn't be surprised if the g35 has the same problem, but maybe to a lesser degree. You should ask in the G35 forum, or search it. I've certainly never heard of anyone with a G35 getting free tires, and very few people with 04+ Z's either.

the tsb says 2 years. as long as your within the 2 years then your ok. im like 2 years and 5 months. so thats why they couldn't do anything. and mileage doesn't matter becasue anything over 21,000 they just prorate meaning only pay a part of it. you totally lucked out if ugot free tires and if you were over 2 years. ill try a different dealer. thanks

I'm pretty sure it means your original warranty date + 2 years. I was at 2 years 6 months. My reasoning:

- It's called an "extension" so it must extend something.

- Nissan mailed me the letter after I'd had the car for 2 years 4 months.

whats original in service date mean? and wouldn't the warranty be from when u first bought the car? im confused. why would they send u that letter 2 years and 4 months if your passed the date? clue me in plz

I don't know the answers to those questions. I just assume the original in-service date refers to the date of your warranty agreed upon when you bought the car. They probably make it ambiguous so dealers can talk people out of it.

Well, in all fairness, their 800 number wouldn't help him, and even the special 03 tire hotline gave me contradictory information. I'm glad Nissan replaced my tires, but they sure are a pain to deal with. The service centers and dealerships sit under a huge NISSAN sign, next to Nissan logos, and they have Nissan logos on their shirts and business cards, so they do represent Nissan, too.
