Default tires to prevent feathering?

ok... i'm beginning to worry the magnitude of the feathering problem. i've browsed around the forum and i'm getting a lot of mixed answer. first of all, what have you guys done to fix that problem? i heard that replacing tires and getting an alignment done will do... but some say that's only temporary. my second question is that, if replacing the tires DO work, what kinds do you guys recommend? i've heard the michelin pilots can prevent feathering... not sure if that's true. i need to start thinking this before i hit 4k miles.

thanks for the help guys.

After my Protenzas feathered badly, at 12,000 miles, I put on Michelin Pilots.

Like an idiot (perhaps) I did not get an alignment.

3,000 miles later (checked them today) my Michelin Pilots show no signs of feathering and are as quiet as a whisper. The Protenzas were always noisy.

I'll defer to those with superior knowledge but I don't think feathering has to do with tires; it has to do with alignment.

Whenever you change tires do have an alignment done.

I got 24,000 miles out of my OEM tires. Just started on a set of Toyo T1 Rs.

Reduce the castor. Read the following, for ideas.
http://www.lasercannon.com/Newz/feathering.htm

This much castor worked when tires were non directional and were rotated every 3,000 miles but with directionals, people skip the demount and flip as tire maintenance can cost almost as much as tires.

You should se the feathering on LS-SC-GS 400/430 and Q45 [old and new] WHEN DIRECTIONAL TIRES ARE FITTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
