Default Quality Check: PIAA Super Rozza and RH Pro J5 (please help!)

I'm looking at 2 different styles of rims, mentioned in the title. Can anyone who is knowledgable about such things please enlighten me:

PIAA Super Rozza are supposedly created using a low-pressure casting method by PIAA. I have the feeling this is not as good durability as forged, but probably better than most typical rims...

Is this complete BS? Or are PIAA's claims about low-pressure casting bona fide?

RH Pro J5, I cannot even figure out whether these are cast, machined, forged, or whatever else. I have been searching around the internet for a while, google is no help.

Can anyone confirm if these are forged? And if not, how is the durability?

Thanks in advance.

For the J5, I beleive that the rim is forged and the spokes are cast.

For normal street driving a cast wheel will do just fine. Even tracking. It's just a matter of how much weight you want to save as forged is usually lighter.

Both wheels are multi piece wheels and great quality. I have the black RH R5 Pros on my car and absolutely love them. Both wheels are cast as well and are made in Japan, the R5, on the wheel itself says "MADE IN JAPAN". The only wheel RH offers forged in 19's is the CPF Tunes which to my understanding are now discontinued. RH does make a few other forged wheels but I think it is in a smaller sizes. If you want to see a pic of the R5's on my car check out, www.mynismo.com under the employee section in our gallery. We carry both wheels and are a direct dealer for Dazz, let us know if you need pricing info, thanks.

Default here are some pics

these are my j5s:

and these are the piaas: (this is z-incognito's z, i hope he doesn't mind my using his pics)

like Andy stated above, both wheels are cast. the j5 rear lips (on the 10.5s) are slightly larger than the piaas. i'm not too sure about weight tho.

So, anyone happen to know if you can get the J5's in 9.5 and 8.5? I'm not too excited about getting 9.5 and 10.5, due to the excessive cost of tires.

If not, I'm almost definitely going with the PIAAs...

Hey mgl I thnk Ive seen your car driving around in the Bay but did you have different rims before? The weight on the RH R5 Pros are approximately 26-27 pounds.

I believe that the J5's are approx. 2 pounds lighter.

Forged is and always will be stronger if not lighter and usually both. I staid away from PIAA bc of added weight. Not going to spend 3k on rims just to add unsprung weight. Correct me if im wrong but 1lb unsprung weight equals about 4 sprung correct? Or is it a little less? Well anyways less unsprung weight is where its at for handling. period.

Are the PIAA actually heavier than stock 18's?

I'm not looking to have the lightest rims per se... obviously 19" rims are not exactly the best choice for track.

If they are ABOUT the same as stock 18s, I don't see a big problem there. They are wider, so they should be grippy enough for me.

I think they are close to the same ~25lbs but with the extra rubber you are adding they will be heavier for sure by about 2-3 lbs per wheel my guess. Not a disaster but that kindof stuff bothers me since im from a motorcycle crowd. Im a freak about unsprung weight.

Well first off, I'm not looking to buy rims for the track or drag racing... so unless I'm being told that my handling is going to become a lot worse from adding 2-3 lbs, I don't think that will make a difference to me.

Plus, I'm thinking about getting the 3.9 final drive mod, which will give me more than enough torque to put down to a 19" wheel...

What do you think? For casual and occasional spirited driving, will I notice a difference with a couple pounds per wheel?

I weighed my 17" stockers before I put the rozza wheels and was surprised at the weight difference. The front wheel combo was slightly lighter while the rears were 1lb heavier.

Not bad in my book considering they are much larger wheels.

Stock PIAA
51.6 49.0
53.2 54.2

I kinda wonder how the 9.5 wide rears would have weighed compared to my 19x10s.

Tire Rack has the weights of most tires (in each size) if you look under "Specifications" or whatever when you're looking at a specific tire. You can do the math from there. Most of the stock tires are pretty average, from what I remember.
