Tire pressure sensors on new wheels
We have seen/heard that the stock tire pressure monitors will fit on some aftermarket wheels, but has anyone found out if they will work with tires that require higher pressure? In my case I am going to purchase some Volk le37ts in 18" and wrap them in Kumho ecsta MX. The MX require 44psi. I think the alarm gets triggered aroun 25psi? Will this throw anything off or again the alarm will go off under 25psi?
while the Kumho MX tire is capable of holding up to 44 psi cold that is not what you run them at ... that is the max cold pressure .... no matter which tires are on your car the air inside the tire i supporting the weight of the car and you should use Nissans pressure specs (with about 5 psi variations allowed for your preference and driving style)
To answer your other question, the tire pressure monitor system is in your vehicle and so changing tire pressure sensors has no effect on the display alarm when the pressure goes under 28 psi.
I also looked at some Volk wheels in person today at a speed shop and to my surprise, the statement that all Volk wheels will accomodate the Nissan pressure transmitter is incorrect! The wheel style I looked at was the Volk GT-N, and it has an included valve stem that is a 90 degree elbow - meaning that the Nissan unit cannot be mounted.
Caveat emptor wheel buyers!

FYI - Wheel sensors
They can be "banded" to the inside of each wheel to function normally. You just have to very careful during mounting and dismounting. HRE does this on their r-series wheels for the Lexus SC430 and Vettes since only the std series wheel can accomodate the OE style sensor affixed to the valve stem.

No, actually what I meant to say is that the sensor can be separated from the valve stem and "banded" or epoxied like someone else had mentioned in another thread. I believe the sensors are diff. by mfg.
