Default Is the Volk clearcoated lip fixable?

I recently put on tires on my brand new Volks SF challenges. I noticed at the very outside edge of the chrome lip there are some scuff marks from tire mounting. Is it possible to have perfect mounting with these wheels? I am talking completely flawless.

Any how, i want to know if it is possible to wetsand the scuff mark off and buff the lip with some rubbing compound (for car paint)? I understand the lip has clearcoat on them, so if i wetsand it, will i have to go with metal polish instead, since the clear coat will be gone? Anyone with experience in this? Thanks.

Yes, I have kerbed my wheels badly (Volks GT-C's) and fixed them up like new. I basically got the tyre taken off (so i could get a good purchase on the lip), and wetsanded down using 400 grade working upto 1500. You do lose the clearcoat, but metal polish brings them up like new. I cant believe how easy they are to fix, and unless I told you, you would never know.
The only thing is, that every month or so, you need to repolish with the metal compound, but it only takes a second.

Did you wetsand the whole lip or just the curbed area? Would it be obvious where the clearcoat and wetsanded parts meet?

Yeah, and i've seen ones w/ the clearcoat removed.. polishing them is a *****! I just bought a new wheel. Just one of the caveats when buying a wheel made in another country.

I have some dingy spots on my wheels from where the clearcoat wore off. It looks kind of copper brown color like a penny. Do you know of a way I can polish this out without polishing the entire lip?

I looked around but haven't seen anything made by Mothers that is called Clear Coat Wheel Polish.

i worked on the lip today to get some scuff marks off and it worked like a charm. I just used some 2000 grit wetsand paper and wrapped it around a card and just kinda worked the scuffed area. Then i followed up with mothers clearcoat wheel polish. You can see a little bit of where the clearcoat is gone, but you really have to look for it. The polished area looks just like the rest of the lip. I also used some 3M rubbing compound and that seems to polish just as well.
