This outfit here does the Permastar finish. Lifetime warranty on the wheels and they say return freight charges are estimated at $25 per wheel.

black chrome = $215 ea.
chrome = $200 ea.

I called and whoever I talked to didn't know what Permastar was and made some weird comment about what their black chrome looks like.

Are you sure the black chrome is REALLY black chrome? Does the finish look like my RO_JA wheels on page 1 of this thread?

Please explain to me how you called them? I posted their contact info tonight at 730pm and they closed at 430pm?

Yes it is REALLY BLACK CHROME just like on your RO_JA wheels, but a whole lot better. I just looked at it again on Monday.

I called them up and the guy had no idea what I was talking about. He said they do a black chrome but its nothing like the black chrome we are thinking about.

The actual finish is called Permastar. And he didn't know what it was.
If you will take notice they are not the same place. As I stated in my posts.

In your earlier post where you said it was in El Cajon, I went to Yahoo Yellow Pages and found their number and called.

Like I said already, whoever I talked with had no idea what Permastar was which I would assume if your doing black chrome you'd have to know this.

Who is a good person to ask for over there? $125 is a good deal. Not as cheap as I paid at American Powder Coat ($95 a wheel) but then again they will never get my business again because of the ****ty quality.

"black chrome" isn't a very consistant color, for example, RH's super black is much different from 5Zigen's SMB...............the SMB is only barely darker than chrome, what you want is almost black right?

5zigens SMB? What is SMB? To my knowledge they do not have an optional black chrome finish. The closest thing they have currently is their hyper black but even then its no where near chromeish.

Rays Black Metal Coat
Racing Harts Super Black Coating
Enkei's Special Brilliant Coating
Works Metal Black
BBS Plasma
SSR Super Black Chrome

These companies all utilize the Permastar process for their black chrome and I would say they are all conistent in color. Remember, depending on the lighting a finish may seem brighter or darker.

So could I find a shop that can do the Permaster finsish on just the spokes of the RH J8 and have it exactly match three other factory finished ones from RH?

Any pics yet? Im interested in having this done. Would it add alot of weight to the wheels though? Approx. how much weight?

Will it look close to the same color as the Black Chrome Emblems Courtesey Nissan sells?

My bad, you are correct. I see that 5zigen is only using this finish on the 19 and 20 inch 2-piece 5ZR wheels. Can't wait to start seeing it on the FN01R-C and GN+.

When I had my RO_JA's done there was no added weight to the wheel.

Remember, this finish isn't applied like traditional chrome plating. Its basically a paint/powdercoat.

I wasnt sure what the process was so I wanted to be sure that minimal weight, if any, would be added.

Do you think the color would be similar to the Nissan Emblems I posted a link to?

Kind of hard to tell but the emblem does look quite similar to the black chrome used on the wheels mentioned in this thread.
