They probably arent really lost like missing in the back of a warehouse somewhere or stolen. It just means that they left on a truck without being scanned, so they are probably mid-route somewhere across the country. I load trailers for UPS and I have to individually scan every package that I load on the trailer and make sure its supposed to be in that trailer. If I dont scan a package for some reason and load it on the trailer, the main computer system never knows that it made it onto the trailer and would be "lost" untill it was unloaded and scanned at the next location. Perhaps 2 of your wheels werent scanned and were also put on the wrong trailer. Happens all the time. The location I work at unloads/sorts/reloads 120,000 packages in 3 hours, thats just my shift, there are 2 other shifts. Now do you wonder why your packages get lost or damaged?
