Problems w/Pilot Sport Tires
Hey everyone. I could use your help/suggestions, especially from those of you who are knowledgeable about tires and alignment issues. I am currently running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my '03 Z (I took the opportunity to swap my potenza tires, which were experiencing the well-known feathering issue, for some tires with better winter traction). Anyway, I've had these tires for almost a year now and I love them - excellent traction and performance for winter driving.
The problem - I recently had an alignment done (twice in the same week). Since the alignment, the vehicle continues to pull to the left (not as bad as prior to the alignment). Moreover, the right rear end of the car fishtails when taking sharp left turns and at highway speeds feels as if the vehicle is jerking (not harsh, but noticeable) from side to side as if the alignment is pulling to the left one minute and then to the right the next minute (hard to explain, but feels like both sides of the vehicle are pulling in their own separate directions). However, the primary problem is the fishtailing when taking tight hard turns to the left. There is absolutely no problem on hard turns to the right - hugs the road tight!
I've checked the alignment numbers and everything is within spec. The only thing I can assume is that prior to the alignment the tires were wearing unevenly due to the vehicle pulling to the left. Then after getting the alignment, an abnormaly worn tire may continue to contribute to the instability of the vehicle at high speeds and tight cornering. If this is the case, is there anyway I can verify there is something wrong with the way the tires are worn? I took a look and I don't see any signs of any abnormalities. Also, I was considering taking it back to the dealership to have them rotate the front tires (I know they will have to take them off the wheels and swap them since they are uni-directional) - could this possibly solve any unnoticeable wear in the tires?
I would really appreciate any suggestions. If possible, I really want to correct this problem without having to replace them - they are less than a year old and only have about 10K miles on them.
