Default The banding material is included

The banding material is included.

For those with the TPS - we are adding the correct material to each order. This normally runs about $60.00

Default hre tps

Does that mean we will have everything needed? How does the tps attach to the band? I hear there might be an adapter kit to attach the tps to the band. Please inform and thanks for the good work Paul.

HRE has the 350Z wheel fitment nailed. The front wheels will accommodate any big brake kit you can throw at it, and still has a 2" outer lip (the 15" StoTech kit requires 19").

Our SEMA Z had 19x9.5 275/30-19 and 19x10.5 295/30-19. This car was borrowed from Nissan, and NO fender mods were required. I drove this car aggressively with this set-up on it and it does not rub at all!

For hard-core track-guys, I recommend 18x9.5 275/35-18 front and 18x11 315/30-18 rear (fender mods required).

The Avalon Racing guys are HRE/350Z specialists!!

I've finally decided to go ahead & order the HREs in the 547R style. 19" F 8.5 & R 10 Brushed finish & etched caps. Surronded by Toyo Proxes T1-S. My order will bring it to 6 confirmed orders 3 away from the next price level. I know there are alot of you guys sitting on the fence. Times running out call Paul ASAP.

Default HRE rocks!

I just spent from 3-8pm at the HRE factory. Thanks to you guys at HRE for spending the time with me. I have a lot to post but for the first post, let me just say the quality and engineering of these wheels are OUTSTANDING! You can get an idea of customer service by them staying after work until 8 just to talk wheels. They are enthusist. Do not worry about offsets, no matter what you order will come out looking just like the sunset show car on offsets, they have it down. Of course you can opt to have anyoffset you like but if you give them tire size it will be perfect without you even worrying about offsets.

Write HREWHEELMAKER for techical questions relative to tire/wheel fits, he can set you up.

Here are some pics of the show car you have not seen i bet..Jeff

Default about finishes

Concerning finishes:

All of them great but here is my perspective on pros/cons:

Standard painted finish: Looks very good but these wheels are truely a work of art. The paint hides the quaility that makes these wheels like no other wheel made. It is like painting over a diamond. It might look ok but why would you do it?

Brushed finish: The more you look at it, the better you like it. I thought I would order a polish finish before i visited. After looking at the brushed finish, I changed my mind. Iit really defines the wheel the best. It looks machined and that is exactly what sets these HRE wheels apart from others, they are hand machined piece of work. The brushed finish has swirls that some might not find appealing but the more i looked at them, the more i liked them. They have a clear coat over the spokes (brushed areas) which is needed they say. The brush give the wheel a sense of depth and luster by the way the light hits them.

Polished: Looks great too. I found that the brushed looked at good with less maintience and a little less flashy. Classy vs flashy is what i felt (Brushed vs Polished). Don't get me wrong, I like them, just like brsuhed even more.

When I get a chance I will post some pics of finishes i took for you guys! I just need to download them off the digital camera

Default Tire sizes

Fortunately, I was able to talk to the person that drove the sunset show car with the HRE 445R wheels on it with massive 19" 275/30 X 9.5 wheels/tires on ft and 295/30 on the rear with 10.5 wheels.

I have been affraid to put larger than 245 X 275 tires on my car since most people posting are putting on those sizes. Surprizingly, the hugh 275x295 tires did not rub or cause any problems during the week the HRE guys drove the car back and forth from San Diego to LA! He said the car handle only slighty harder than the 17" wheels they had on it stock and the handling was unbelieveable with the big tires on it.

I am either going with the big set up but with 18" wheels (personal choice) or if i wimp out, I will go with the next step down being 255/40 on 8.5 fts and 285/40 on 10.5 rears. I will price out both and make my decision. The bottom line is this car can hold bigger tires without negatives!

Thanks for the kind words, Jeff. Alan and I enjoyed your company- it's a pleasure speaking with a real enthusiast. Congratulations on your 350Z purchase, by the way. I hope the deal finishes smoothly.

HRE welcomes anybody to come by the factory if they are ever in the San Diego area. We design, engineer, develop fitments, machine, and polish our wheels in-house, and have been doing so since 1981. Every part of an HRE wheel except the silicone used to seal the rim-halves is manufactured right here in the USA- something we are quite proud of.

You're right-on about the finishes- everyone at HRE that has a set of our wheels has the brushed finish (of course, we're biased!). Of course, HRE has always been about choices: you can truly "have it your way."

Thanks for posting the pics- I took those rather quickly just outside the photo studio we rented for the day. The 2003 brochure will feature our SEMA Aston Martin Vanquish, Lamborghini Diablo, Mercedes E500, Nissan 350Z, and BMW X5 (not to mention a few others).

Be sure to check out our new website www.hrewheels.com We will be adding a few new cars this spring, and we are tweaking some of the showroom images to reflect how the wheels really look on a car (some actually look too small , sort of refreshing from the cartoonish 28" Niche ads in all of the magazines).

I can best be reached via e-mail for tech and other wheel-related questions, and I'm happy to help out. bobh@hrewheels.com

Default More info from todays visit

Bob;

Great that you are opening your expertise to all here. I was shy to give your name fearing you might not like the amount of questions you might get from the group here.

Can i make some suggestions:

1. Please tell everyone your driving experiences of having those big 275ft/295 rears on the show car since you drove it from San diego to LA for a week straight. I know i was scared to go that big and many here might fear it will rub etc. Remember, you had the opportunity to drive it with big tires, most here are going 245 ft and 275 rear because they know others have done it and do not want to get bigger fearing problems.

2. Please post other pics i did not post. One e-mail you sent me did not get through. I think everyone would love to see the close up pic of the front tire you showed me.

3. Everyone: Bob told me the show car had 13" stop tech brakes on the show car, they worked great and you can get the 8.5 HRE's in 18 or 19" and they will fit brembos or stop techs in 13 or 14 inches without them even adjusting the fts. If you want 14" monster stop tech brakes, let them know, thay can make them fit.

Jeff: I'll need to re-size the close-up of the 445R with the 13" StopTechs behind it.

I actually drove this car quite a bit- probably 800 miles or so with the 19s on it. I'm a big fan of wide rubber on cars- my daily driver is an '85 MR2 with 225/35-17 front & 245/35-17 rear tires. People said this set-up couldn't be done, but it's on there, and the car pulls .98g on a dusty 300 ft. skidpad. The friggin' car turns like a Viper... the 350Z felt much the same.

The huge front tires took out a bit of the stock 'push,' without feeling twitchy or unpredictable at the limit. I could literally hammer the StopTechs and really load the crap out of the front suspension during turns- it was about impossible to unstick the Rossos doing this.

If you don't hammer the brakes (i.e., a freeway onramp), the car will very gently begin to push at the limit, but we're talking insane speeds here... just ask the kid in the S2000 that I passed from the outside lane of a two-lane freeway entrance ramp.

The Z had zero tracking issues on the freeway- no tramlining or dartiness was evident. I found the Rossos to be very quiet, and they withstood the abuse I gave them with no complaints. The wheels are hub-centric, no steering vibration or scrub-radius issues were evident whatsoever.

The Nissan guys really liked out 350Z, too. They even transported it to/from the SEMA show for us. When I delivered the finished car to them the Friday before SEMA, they were photographing the two Nismo cars: the photographer asked "how come yours looks so much better than ours?"

Default Pics of factory tour

As requested by some people on my350z.com, i am posting some pics of the tour i took at the factory today. I took mostly the brushed finsh since many ask me to get close ups. It must be nice, I changed my mind from 545 polished to 445 brushed. Actions speak louder than words and thse pics do not measure the visual candy these wheels have in real life.

Default HRE Designers car

Just in case you are wondering what the man that designs the wheels for HRE has, here it is. He has this on his NSX.

Default Split spoke

Brian, this pic is for you. I know you ordered a spilt spoke. I took a pic of this wheel in the HRE parking lot. It was on a BMW SUV.

Default Questions Questions... :)

First off, beautiful wheels.

I read in a previous post that only the rim face and not the lip was clearcoated? Did I read that correctly? Is there any particular reason it's not? Do the polished come fully clear coated?

I for one would prefer a fully clear coated wheel because of the weather conditions where I live. It wreaks havoc on aluminum wheels that are not clear coated.

I really like the 545R's. Could these be made in the same size as the HRE demo car? Would they bolt right in with no suspension/body mods? I do not have Brembo's, but may do a big brake kit in the front at a later date.

And lastly, I guess this is for the gentleman from Avalon Racing: What would I be looking at for a set of those 546R's polished (yes I know, but I think I prefer polished on black cars )?

Thanks in advance for answering this mess of questions.
