I am trying to run 275's all around I can do that on a 9 inch rim, but would prefer a 9.5 inch rim. If I use the same width all around I can rotate the tires. Are you sure they don't make them, I checked at discount tire the other day and they said they are available in that size as a special order, if not I will consider the 9 inch rim. How would 275's look on a 9 inch rim?

They look fine..
But, I would personally do 275/35/18 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear on the 9's all around...
and then use this method to rotate your tires..

This is just like asking, "Where's the cheapest place to get a Zenith?" Maybe times have changed but I remember Enkeis being as cheap as they come. They were the rims of choice for Escorts and Tercels. If this is still the case, then to put these on a Z would be like wearing Buster Browns with a Hugo Boss suit.

I don't agree. The Enkeis come in some good offsets to run agressive tire sizes and they weigh less than almost anything, are relatively strong. Their racing series wheels aren't that bad. Their 18x9.5 inch wheel only weighs 19 lbs. That is the same as a fully forged BBS wheel in the same size. They really aren't that cheap at around $380/wheel.
itburns - like every other company on the planet, Enkei offers a more expensive line and a less expensive line. However, their wheels are all top quality. Enkei is Japan's largest manufacturer of wheels, and produces wheels for several OEM manufacturers, as well as for motorsports use (WRC and F1 cars use Enkei wheels). Granted, the wheels for motorsports use are very specialized but it shows the company produces quality products. In addition, Enkei is the manufacturer for several high end Japanese wheel companies (ie Enkei is the actual manufacturer of Advan wheels)

If you do 275/35/18 you have the large tire patch and all the advantages that you get from using the 275/40/17 but since the tire diameter is slightly smaller, it will not effect your VDC system, you will have better steering response with the lighter wheel and tire combination...
doing 275/40 all around like that magazine is good... but 275/35 front and 275/40 rear is better performance wize...
If you do this for purposes of rotating the tires (which I guess you did not look at the link I posted which will give you MORE tire life then what you plan on doing) then its a waste of time.. Rotating front to back will not give you better tire life, your just going ot use the inside half of the tires and once you put them on the front they will last you no time at all...
if you really want to rotate front to rear, then do 275/35 all around... it will be even better performance wize...
I did read the link, it it said you cannot rotate bfg kd's since they are assymetrical and directional. I would love to do 275/35's all around but would have to choose another tire. If I want to left to right or use a shorter tire I will have to do away with the bfg kd tires.

I didnt know you wanted BFG KD's... thats a great tire!
Yeah they dont make a 275/35/18 in that tire...
Hav eyou tried Kumho Ecsta MX? They are almost as good as the KD's..
Are you looking for a good dry tire for every day use or tracking use?
Some people run Toyo RA-1's as a daily driven dry tire... Thats a step up from the KD's...

I drive it daily but I live in texas, it doesn't rain that much so I prefer a dry traction tire with lots of grip for tracking and spirited drives on country roads. I have thought about ra1's but they are too expensive to keep replacing, I drive around 12,000 miles a year. They make Michelin ps2's in that size. How do they compare to the kd's? I have used kd's on other cars and they are great, a litlle on the heavy side but they can grip.
Don't know if the KDW-2 is an option for ya. They come in a 275/35/18, weigh 28lbs and cost 201$ at tirerack.com. They are rated a little lower than the KD's though. Don't know if this helps at all.
Maybe you can help me find some 275/40/18 in the KDW-2? They make them tirerack just doesn't carry them and the other places I have seen them at are like 40$ more.

I am considering that tire as well, right now the michelin ps2 is shaping up to be an excellent all around tire. It has good wet and dry traction, weight, and treadwear. I am condidering this along with the goodyear eagle f1.
They don't make a kdw2 in 275/40/18. It is a little confusing. On BFG's website you see the kdw only, not kdw and kdw2. They have two tread patterns nt (new tread) and tt (traditional tread. The nt is called the kdw2 on tirerack.com, the tt is just called kdw. You can get the kdw in 275/40/18 but not the kdw2. Tirerack,co does have the lowest price on that tire though.
