Default front/rears?

In order to have non directional tires i have a plan::
I'm lookin to buy a set of stock base rims. Buy non directional tires and install
the wider rear rims on all 4 corners. Now i know either the fronts or rears have something on the rim to not allow the rears on the front of the car or vice versa..(i can't remember),but after i remove it will this work?
235/ 50 17's on all 4 corners, will they fit up front? any coments? thanks

It sounds like a plan, but I see one potential flaw: it will be difficult to find performance tires which are bi-directional.

doesn't this tire just have to be facing the outside of the vehicle and is bi-directional?

I don't see an arrow on the tire. It appears to be bi-directional. You should be OK.

Did it work? I just bought an extra set of OE rims and am thinking of doing something similar...any comments? (what did you have to change on the rims to make them fit both front and rear?)

thanks!
