Default Whole New Suspension

Here's my story,

I slammed into a curb, left front tire hit first. Only the left rims were bent and needed to be replaced. Car came into alignment fine, and I even had the chassis alignment laser checked.

Problem is, at 55 - 75 mph I get a rhythmic tire droning noise when I am curving to the right, very little when going straight and not at all curving to the left.

They can't find any part that is bent in the suspension. So I could go through part by part and replace all the suspension components, or just upgrade the whole thing.

What would it cost for a complete suspension upgrade, not just strut and springs, but a whole new aftermarket suspension.

Any ideas or prices. I know absolutely nothing about suspensions.

I would like to go FI someday, so this might be good prep for that upgrade.

Thanks

i had exactly the same problem, it is the wheel berings. I hit a curb sliding sideways, and replaced all the rear suspension and aligned it then the noise, I then replaced the rear berings, and the noise gone, except when i would drive between 40-however fast, then I would hear a whir whir whir droning noise coming from the front right(the hit side) sure enough, wheel berings

Default Thanks for the Reply

How much did it cost for the wheel bearings installed?

Also how much for the rear suspension?

Thanks again, it has been driving me nuts!

One other question. Was your noise coming from the bearing itself or the tires? Mine tends to change as the tires wear in or I put new ones on. The sound mine makes is like when you slip over onto the shoulder and they have that grooved pavement to wake you up. You can feel a very slight vibration too.

yeah crazy, the sound was different on two sets, with the 20's the noise was not that bad, but the stock 17 with bridgestone, oh boy, it was bad, and I know exactly waht you are talking about, the wheel bering was like 40 or 60 bucks from nissan, I put it on myself

Only $60. That's fantastic, where did you order it from, my dealer told me it would be about $200 for the bearing and $200 to install.

I saw on some discount Nissan website the wheel bearing assebly for about $139. If you could tell me where to get it from for that price, I would appreciate it, how hard is the install process?

Thanks for the update on the different sounds from the different rims and tires, that helps to confirm in my mind, that we both had the same issue.

I can't wait to get it fixed. I was really afraid I was going to be replacing parts left and right trying to find the culprit!

Thanks agian for the help.

Thanks a ton WNM I just got my Z back after getting the bearing replaced and sure enough that did it!!

I can't even begin to describe what a relief that is. I lived with it for a year, since no one knew for sure what it could be, and I didn't want to throw hundreds of dollars at it, and still not have it fixed.

God, it's great to have her back at 100%!
