Talking Need new rims for my 04 Performance coupe, some questions.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice posted, and thanks again for all the help this board has brought me....this place has made owning a Z a much more pleasurable experience for me. (And that is saying a LOT! )

We just got a settlement resolved with my insurance company over some damage to our Z's front wheels, and they're cutting us a check for $1,414.39 to cover the new replacements.

If we go thru our Nissan dealer and trade in our botched up front wheels they can replace both ours for the amount we're being given...but I'm wondering if that is really the way to go.

I saw this front replacement wheel for $345, but now I'm paranoid about it's color not quite matching the rear ones....so I'm wondering about just buying four new rims and swapping them all:

Discount/America Tires

Discount Tire Direct

Tire Track

Some stupid questions about swapping all four rims:

1. We have the tire pressure sensor thingies, will new rims mean we won't have that anymore?

2. Sizes. So long as all the numbers match will we be cool?

3. Any other options. If anyone has any recomendations or suggestions please feel free to post up, I'm a hopeless newbie when it comes to our Z and any kind of nice car in general.

4. Any good online places to buy rims I'm missing?

5. I found a few dozen tire/rim bargains, are those horrible scams with cheap rubber?

Again, thanks in advance and if this is a reposted question please feel free to slap me down as I should really know better.

WOW! There is not a possible wheel -tire question that you did not ask. And in one post by the way. How about doing a little research in the wheel -tire forum.

Sorry, I get excited...duly noted, I consider myself spanked, and I'll go do some homework.

My wife's eyebrow went up when she saw the wheels, what year/model did you have them on and since they're a tad wider than stock how did it affect handling and such?

I missed the first part of the question. Sorry. 4 wheels and 4 tires is possible for $1,400, but the quality will be mediocre.

1. Add out-of-pocket dollars for new wheels and tires all around.
2. Buy a couple of OEM used wheels on eBay.

Man, after a bit of research I'm now scareder than hell to buy new tires/rims! It just seems like there are so many things I could screw up!

Nickatnite, those wheels work alright on a Z as is...correct? Also, would you be interested in a grand in cash for 'em? (I live in Highland, IN...not too far.)

Dumb thought, but couldn't I just take all four of my current rims in to be blasted/re-powdercoated? Try and have them match the paint to the car?

That wouldn't look to shabby, anyone have their rims re-done?

Painting the OEM wheels is possible. Figure about $400 for 4. Remove tires from wheels, reinstall tires, balance. Another $125. Now you have $525 invested.

Thanks! I had no idea on the numbers/cost involved, now I got a base to work from.

I think I'll call the bodyshop we're taking it to and see if they can do it at the same time they fix the scratch on the front fender....

Thank you, but I have a scary feeling they are waaaay beyond my budget right now.

I have to keep whatever I do under $1,400 for right now, and the more under the better. I'm halfway tempted to just find a super-cheapy deal on four tires/rims that will work and use them while I get the old ones fixed.
