I've heard a few people say this also. Can you post some links with supporting evidence?
I pretty much bought them for the look. I'm more into the show look, even though I still have a long way to go before the Z has good "show car" quality.

Its obvious this guy is the seller. The last thing you want to do in an auction is inform half the enthusiast community potentially creating bidding wars.

For the record - I'm trying to get to 500....

Links? I am from the Cobra community and have never heard a bad thing about HRE's. Not calling you a liar, but would like to see for myself.

I remember seeing something about HRE wheels breaking while autocrossing also. On an audi or vw. I am researching now( think the rim snap apart from the hub of the rim mid spoke!).

I'd say HRE's are the premiere custom AMERICAN-make wheel brand.

They make awesome "custom" wheels to fit high-end cars.

They don't really have a racing heritage or is that popular across the globe.

Good find, but there only seems to be evidence pointing to defective Kinesis wheels, and only because of prior maintenance/refurbishing done by a third party not by the manufacturer. All of the negative comments towards HRE's was all hearsay. I personally don't know how well HRE's perform under track conditions so I won't defend them. I'm just pointing out some opposing views, since most of the HRE comments I've read have been hearsay. I would think that a wheel costing so much would have to justify that price tag with quality.

<QUOTE> Interesting tid-bit. Talking to IMSA and Viper Racing League stewards. found HRE's are banned ...

by both due to too many failures.

NINE, yes NINE failures in one race weekend Vipers.

Apparently the PCA is on their way to banning HRE's as well.

The racers have always called them "Fools Fashion" and I thought that was a little rough until I started seeing them fail at track events and how easily they bend and corrode.

Then, after Leslie had problems with hers corroding and I spoke with one of the owners, I realized quickly they were WAY out of reality as to strength and design.

Wasn't really surprised that they were banned (was at the meeting), but was surprised at ALL the problems reported.

Unreal for such an expensive wheel.

Apparently tolerances are sooooo poor that the tires often rotate on the wheels themselves as the rims are often slightly too small.

I'm sorry.......has anyone ever seen rules from any racing division that HRE wheels are banned? Can't you get copies of the rules somewhere? Why are we listening to "I talked to ....and he said....the steward told him....."? Can someone post the rule that says HREs are banned?

buyer beware....imo .... any used wheels or tires depreciate faster than a rabbit gets fcuked as soon as they hit the ground.
