Default A question about tire mounting

This may be more of an aesthetic issue than a performance issue but is it normal that after tire mountings that the lips of our rips get gashed up? Personaly im still running on my stock performance rims but for those of us who have aftermarket rims especialy expensive ones, I ask what you guys do about it? Go to an independent shop? Any reccomendations? Or is this simply the way it must be?

Go to a shop that you trust. Ask about potential damage. Tell the service prson that you want the lug nuts removed and tightened by hand (not air gun).

Have this done at a shop that sells high quality aftermarket wheels. They should have the right equipment to do the job properly. Before having the tires installed, confirm with the service adviser that the rims are flawless.
