Guys,
Since I am searching on wheels the next best question would be tires. Actually, hold up a minute, I found out that most rim manufacturer's, Axis, TSW, Ruff Racing etc., only have 1 or 2 year warranties on the the finish of the wheel (Hyperblack, Chrome, Silver), this seems a little odd doesn't it, has anyone had problems with the finish on these wheels? Okay back to the real question, tires. So far the two tires I like are the Toyo T1R and Dunlop Direzza DZ101. Here are the stats, specs and pictures of each:

Price wise, it seems that for a set of four I can get them for $899 for Toyo T1R and $799 for the Dunlops. The Dunlops have a wider width for the tire but takes a smaller load. So for a $100 cheaper is it alright to go with the Dunlop or is it better to spend the extra $100 since most everyone on this forum would say "Go with Toyo". I don't think this is a real question because I already know the answer, Toyo, I just want to have some opinions from people who have the tires. Has anyone tracked each of these tires? Can you give me some insight on these tires? I have 1 month to decide on the tires since the wheels are on backorder.

P.S. I decided to go with the Ruff Racing 279 Hyperblack 19x8.5 front +20 and 19x9.5 rear +20 from www.n4smotors.com, the major distributor for Ruff Racing. Did you know that there was so much demand for these wheels that there has been a 6 month national backorder, but in 1 month they should be here from overseas stated by the Status Wheels representative.

My personal choice would have be: Toyo T1R

Same front setup 245/35/19ZR Front, but the back I would go with 275/35/19Zr. Just to get that extra meat on the rear.

Since I had mine mounted, I have no specific complaints.

It grips very well on dry payments and overall good handling on rainy days.
For a low profile sports tires, they are quiet on the road. No harsh ride.

My .02 on the Toyo's.

 

Any particular reason you chose those tires over, say the S03 from Bridgestone or PS2 from Michelin? PS - you do know you're going to be 9.5% off size wise? Tirerack recommended a 225x40x19 and 245x40x90 so that's a 90mm sidewall vs what you are talking about, ~ 85.7mm

... or I could be talking out of my a$s - i don't know a lot about 19s honestly

 

I don't have that model Dunlop but I do have the Dunlop SP9000's and they are sh1tty. I can't even accelerate fast from a stop without my backend kicking out everywhere. I just sit there and spin tires and these are brand new. I've got about 3,000 miles on them.

I did have a set of Toyo T1R's on my old Volks and honestly they out perform my current Dunlops.

 

225x40x19 and 245x40x19

Would not be my choice........It's not aggressive as 245/35/19 & 275/35/19.

Looks and handles better than the 225x40x19 and 245x40x19 IMO.

 

I will have to agree with that. That is the only sizes I ran when I had 19's

I couldn't imagine having 245's in the rear. My current setup is:

Wheels
19x9 on 255/35/19 F
19x10.5 on 285/35/19 R

 

I have the Toyo's

245x35x19Zr and 275x35x19Zr

They stick very well and I have run them for 10 runs on the 1/4 without a problem (other then general spinning you would expect on street tires).

When I need new tires I will most likely buy another set unless something better comes along in a couple of years.

I have the 245/35/19 – 275/35/19 setup and I just luv luv luv me my Toyos. Way sticky, and I think the tread pattern looks totally badass too.

+3 for Toyos....255/35R19 and 275/35R19 is my current setup. This is my 2nd set of T1Rs (different cars) and I have nothing but praise for them. Before them, I used the T1S and they were good too, but a bit noisey.

I used the dunlops for about 2 weeks on a loaner set of wheels and they were ok...I would still go with the T1R....

for comparasion, I have used the yoko AVS, Pirelli Pzeros, Nitto NT555 and still choose the Toyos overall.

The price for them is $899 an extra $100 over the Dunlop's but I will paying for it in the long run if I don't get them, so I am just going to do it. This price is from Need 4 Speed Motors in California and I don't know how much shipping would be so you will have to call them (www.n4smotors.com) and talk to Edwin, he is a nice guy.

It just sucks I have to wait a month to get the wheel and tire setup but by then I will hopefully have my front bumper (MSA Type 7 Nismo GT replica) painted and put on my Z along with an exhaust (Helix).

What's the difference between T1-R and T1-S?

 

just another +1 for 275/35R19 in the rear... remember stock front OD is 25.7 I think and you are going UP to 25.8 but in the rear stock OD is 26.6 I think and you are going DOWN to 25.6... I mean that is an inch shorter. PS2's are lighter, stickier, and better all around than either of those. Of course, I doubt you can get the set for under about $1200 haven't checked though.
