Question 17" 2003 18" 2006 Tires & Rims

17" 2003 18" 2006 Tires & Rims
Hello Everyone
Just traded my 2003 Enthusiast for a 2006 Enthusiast. Will the 03 17" tires & rims work with the 06 it has 18" tires & rims? Will it mess anything up? The 17" tires will only be used in the winter as they are snow tires. Hate to buy new ones if I don't have to.
Thanks
Dave Z

Will it mess up the TPS system? The 17" rims have no sensors. Also will it affect the TCS?
Thanks

I am curious as well, because I will need to get 17's for my 06 as well. (for snow tires) The only thing I could see causing a problem is the larger brakes used on the 06's. I'm going to give the service dept a call tomorrow and see if they know.

Thanks for the reply
Let me know what the service dept. has to say. My dealer said it may mess with the TCS.

not if the snow tires you use on the 17" are the same diameter.

I just checked with the service dept, and they said that 17's will clear the stock brakes on the 06's. I checked at tirerack.com and found the combo that I'm going to order for next winter:

4 - 17x7.5 ASA JH3 Silver Painted
2 - 225/50QR17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50
2 - 225/55QR17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50

$919.44 shipped and mounted

They didnt mention that...I didnt ask. I think without having the valve stems w/ the sensors, the TPMS will read 0 PSI. I dont think it will cause too much of a problem.

From what I have heard before from other members who have used tires w/o the tpms sensors, after about 40 mins of driving, a light will come on. But after turning the car off and back on, it will go away. The display will read --/--

Hello
Checked the outside dia. of the 17" & 18" tires the 17" front measure 25.858" the rear are 26.251". The 18" are front 25.972" rear 26.681". The front 18" are .114" larger. The rear are .430" larger. With them being larger on the O.D. will it mess with the V.L.S.D. & T.C.S?

Nope. Tire diameter has no impact on the LSD. The TCS system just detects wheel spin, it shouldnt be affected either. My biggest concern was if the 17's would clear the brakes. Can you try fitting one of your old wheels on your 06? Try the front and the back, because they are different sizes. Thanks!
