Default Tires Q for Cali Z Owners

I keep seeing all these horrorr stories about the OEM Z tires from folks in snow/cold country.

How about the Cali crowd? Anyone go out of control due to tires not "sticking"? And VDC not kicking in?

No problems here to speak of in cold (yea right) or wet. If pushed hard enough anything is going to break loose. As soon as these wear out though S03's are going on. Just a much better tire all around then RE040.

I haven't had any problems as in losing control, but they are crappy tires. Real crappy.

Haven't had any specific tire problems yet. I did spin out and almost hit a wall at Laguna Seca today, but I think that was due primarily to my poor driving skill rather than to any specific tire problem.

I drive twisty roads to work in the morning, and the temperature (according to the Z's computer) is often in the high 30's F, and I haven't had any problems then.

I have almost 9000 miles on the car, and now have 3 AutoX's and 2 track days under my belt. At this rate it looks like I may have another 6000-9000 miles left on the tires. They seem pretty good to me so far.

However, I will be trying the Toyo T1-S when I get new tires, just to try something different. I'll be going with 245/40-18 front and 255/45-18 rear.

Precisely the type of feedback I'm looking for. Appreciate it, D'oh.
