Default Narrow Tires & Fender Cutting

i heard how 245's and 275's give the "stretched" look on 19x9.9 & 10.5. so i played it safe and bought 255's and 285's. cutting the rear fenders is not a problem. but i have to say that after looking at my wheels and tires today, the 255's up front still look a little stretched. i dont like it. the rears with 285 are ok, not that i have much of a choice. i cant even fit my pinky finger between the rear panel and the tire. hopefully cutting the fender will give me just enough space.

anyway, i was wondering what i should use to seal the fenders after i cut them. im thinking some sort of a spray on clear coat, but that has overspray written all over it. is there some sort of clear coat pen i can use instead? would the double tipped touch up paint pen work?

thanks.

You may laugh ... but fingernail polish works well. You could also use spray on undercoating too.

i dont like the fact that the paint "might" crack later on. i know its a maybe, but i dont want to take the risk. its more likely in my case where 1. its a daily driver in sun or snow and 2. temps tend to change fairly quickly. i went ahead and cut the driver side panel. drew up a line an went at it with my dremel. 26 crappy disks later it was done. i used the double sided touchup paint pen. i dont know how good that was, ill probably end up trying the nail polish tomorrow. maybe something that will bring out my car's eye color better, lol.

use high temp paint or some kind of metal sealant.. i know they make metal sealant. Don't forget to clean it to the metal before you seal..
