racign compound tires (stock touring 05)
i am in the market for some racing tires..i do 1/4 mile and course driving...what brand is best so i can do both with the best times...also what size should i go...i am putting these on my stock rims and keeping my street tires on my new rims...so what size and what brand for this situation...thanks all
will you need to drive them on the street to get to the track? If not, buy a full track tire...try a set of hoosiers.
you could get DR (drag radials) for 1/4mi stuff, but those would not work for hard street or track stuff.
I have a 2nd set of wheels for track stuff, but since I sometimes need to drive to the events, I have Toyo RA-1's on them - they work really well for track events and also were a good improvement for the drag strip launches.

yes i will need to drive them to the track and what sizes can you go on the stock rims??? im not lowered so no real rubbing issues at least not yet... and i am looking for somethign that is better than street, not drag radials....but can do both track, strip, and get me to the events
I have toyo RA-1's and love them. About 50% of the tread has the actual tread blocks, but the 2nd 50% just has 4 grooves...they're a DOT legal tire, so you allowed to drive them on the street - just don't drive in the rain after the the tread blocks are gone. As for performance, they great track tires - they take a little longer to heat up, but stick super well. They're not the best autocross tires, but far better than street tires.
touring: 18X8 (F/R)
looks like a conservative tire width for your rims is a 255.

hope that helps.
