Default camber specs

My question is what are the factory numbers front/back for camber/ toe on a 350z. What would be the best numbers for performance on a stock 350z. RIght now my car is wearing on the insides of my front tires quickly, what would you recommend to fix this thanks. I am new to all of this camber/toe stuff.

this has been changed by nissan through the years but the last I checked the recommended toe in when adding in both the fronts is .1 i try and get mine about .05 on each front. or at least that is what i did last year. i am overdue for another alignment.

you cant adjust the camber/caster on the Z, unless you go aftermarket. the only way the camber is adjusted is indirectly by giving the car toe-in, it decreases the camber a little. thats why the alignments are only a "band-aide" for the feathering problem and not a full out fix.

Bring your car to a local Nissan dealership and ask them to perform an alignment.

I recently dropped my car using Swift Springs (.6"R, .8"F) and the only thing that needed to be adjusted was toe for one of the front wheels, everything else was "in spec." Remember though, that the Z already has negative camber out of the box.

Obviously, adjusting toe and camber will afect the handling charactersitics. Since the inside part of your tire is wearing out faster, you may have more negative camber than "spec," but racers adjust camber to track layout, often adjusting for more negative camber. It just depends how you want the car to handle. But of course, the "negative" thing about more negative camber is abnormal wear, thus, requiring tire changes at quicker intervals.

That's why some of us on this forum chose a springs that give a drop below 1 inch. It allows you to actually get your camber in spec without the need of a camber kit, arms, etc. Depending on what drop spring you chose, you may need a camber kit to get the camber back to spec on your car.

So you're box stock? Oops... wow. I have an early '04. When I changed my rims and springs, my tires had even wear. I was expecting the inside part of the tires to be worn, to my surprise, wear was even.

Agree. I have seen several Nissan specifications over the past years, but cannot guarantee what specs Nissan is now recommending. As grifferjr mentioned, and knowledgeable suspension shop can tweak the alignment however you want.

yeah....maybe...who the hell knows!!!!!!!!(hopefully you can sense the sarcasm)

This topic has been talked about endlessly on this board and if you want a full review then clear the rest of your weeks schedule and get to reading.

If you would like my brief synopsis...here it is. Seems the only real full fix is to go aftermarket suspension, adjust camber and go to different tires. the tire feathering problem seems to rooted somewhere between the suspension on the Z and the crappy OEM potenzas, great for the track but not practical. Also you cannot ignore the fact that the tires cannot be easily rotated, you have to dismount, flip then re-mount on the other side.

Now with that said, do I think the feathering is Nissan's fault? Hold your breath...NO!!!! Now I think in the beginning it was a little out of control, I burned my first set of tires up in under 10k before anyone really knew about this. Nissan did their part, stepped up, recognized the situation and gave me new tires along with a pseudo solution to the problem that will help me get the expected life out of my tires. As long as I take an additional measure by rotating.

I think too many of us Z owners have too high of expectations for how much we get out of our tires. We will never average above 30k on a set. You may be saying to yourself, well...hell I dont even get fifteen, well hear me out. A daily road car gets what..maybe 45-55k miles out of a set of tires, and how does that happen...with regular rotation. If you dont rotate, any car wont get half the tire life. So how can we get a full 25-30k out of ours, by rotating as I stated earlier. I get mine rotated twice a year, costs 25-30 bucks. To date I have 25k on my Falkens and other than them being 19's I am bone stock everywhere else.

basically what i am saying is that we have to sacrifice something to have such a superb handling car at such an affordable price.

good luck!!!
