Default 06 Track wheels

I see alot of posts on wheels, most people seeming to purchase Volk wheels. But what about the Rays wheels that the 2006 Track model come with? Does anyone have these? How do they compare to any other aftermarket wheels like Volks. Also, what could I expect to pay if bought from a private party.

I'm thinking of buying a set. I haven't seen any Z's yet in the Houston area with those wheels. I think they look pretty sweet and I like the sizing. I believe they are 18X9 fronts and 19X10 rears.

They are decent wheels and lightweight. Still pretty rare right now. Some like the design, some don't; they still have somewhat of a "stock wheel" look about them, rather than something fancier and aftermarket, but they can be had for cheaper than aftermarket if you can find someone selling them. I thik I've seen them go for around $1200, iirc.

You coming out to the meet Saturday? Check the Texas regional forum for info.

I have the '06 Track version. I do like the look of the rims, but don't know enough about wheels in general to tell you if they are better. I can tell you that I haven't showed anyone the car who hasn't commented on them.

Hope that helps...

WOW!!! $1200 for the whole set? With tires???? Let me know next time you see a price like that. I'd be all over it. I like the '06 track/gt wheels MUCH better than the ones I have now ('03 track).

I actually really like the '03 Track wheels. Don't get me wrong I love the Ray's on my '06 GT but everytime I see the '03 Track wheel I slobber.

Gulp! WOW!!!! That's twice as much as the old Rays. Lets say you got in an accident and one of the older track wheels was damaged beyond repair. Do they make them anymore? Or, would you have to upgrade all 4 to the new style?

Also, I know the ones I have are ~18lbs each. Are the new ones lighter/heavier?

yummie!!!!

Yes, the older Track model wheels are still available and the weight difference between the older and newer wheels should be minimal.

Wow, that is alot of money PER wheel. I do agree they look a bit "stockish" but I still like the design and I've never seen those wheels around town so it would be something different to have. I also like the 18 front/19 rear design. I wonder how much better drive that creates with smaller wheel diameter in the front.

Actually, I haven't seen any 06 Track models around town. What gives. Are they not popular sellers anymore. I was at Mossy Nissan the other day and they had a boat load of Enthusiast models. I guess those are becoming the most popular now.

MustGo,

Sorry can't make it Saturday. Gotta go to an engagement party in Sealy, TX that day. Taking some back roads to make the drive more fun. Have fun out there.

Yeah, nevermind; I thought I had seen a set in the classifieds, but guess not. Looks like people are holding on to these pretty tightly, but as more hit the streets, they will start selling and prices will come down. As for retail... well, there's a reason nobody buys them new...

I have a Grand Touring...

The 06 Rays Wheels have RE050 tires...if I'm not wrong I think the other Z's have RE040's, so that's another added benefit. In my area, I haven't seen a single other Z with these rims on their car...ppl not too familiar with Zs sometimes ask me if they're aftermarket. The little squares in the spokes give away that they're stock b/c the door handles have those same squares.

You could get 2 new sets of Volks for the price of the '06 track wheels.

The Track wheels are forged. And yes there are members who replace and sell them. Availability is limited because the Track is next to the least popular 350Z (least popular is Base). Because of the simple law of supply and demand, the Track wheels demand more dollars than any 350Z wheels. Keep your eyes on eBay. About $1,600/4.

Has anyone over there at Performance had a chance to weigh the '06 Track wheel yet (without rubber)? If I recall, the '03-'05 Track wheel was ~18 lbs per.
