Default 17 inch tire question

It seems as though the oem tire size on the 17 inch wheel is very limited to getting a matching set of tires. I have seen in a few areas that i can go plus 20mm. Meaning 245/45/17 and 255/45/17 , question is with stock ride height how does the 45 series look ? Does anyone have any pics ? Post your thoughts on how it handled and looked thanks. BTW i am not really in a position to buy new wheels for the Z. I just bought my 04 base a week ago. 22,600 miles. Seems as though the original tires were on the car. Fronts seem to be fine but i would like to buy a 4 piece matching set.

I have read many many threads. Most threads are asking about 18" and above tires. Barely any of them hits on what i am asking. I am not asking if it fits, i know it will, i am asking how does it look with stock ride height and how does it handle after doing it. Plus the search engine sux on this site. I have tried many combos of different words and it will list many threads that have nothing to do with my question. Thanks for the help though lots of views and one reply telling me to search

They will still look like 17-inch wheels and tires

i have 245/45/17s all around my base 04 for my track rims (and a set of 245/45/18s on my '06 cruisin rims)

no problems with the 245s - LOTS of room in back for more tire but you don't want to get to big for the rim width / 255 would be fine

i run the same widths in my sad little attempt to reduce understeer (better to just slow down more entering corners yet i never do )

good luck!

i liked the goodyear gsd3s but wasted the edges too quick autocrossing so now have the generals ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Exclaim+UHP ) which seem just as good but cost much less dinero so that i don't care so much about rapid replacement ( though the are holding up better so far)
