Its all about the name dude. If your at a car show people will recognize volks over rotas. but i agree the price is a huge difference and for the quality and looks you cant beat the Rota's
Hehe... if you want to think of it in terms of simple economics, say you've got around $3K in your mod budget. The decision you're facing is that you can either spend your entire roll on some undeniably sexy, top name performance wheels, or you can spend $900 on what the unbiased majority would agree are equally sexy, lower name performance wheels that are slightly heavier. Option two leaves you with another tough decision... how many other mods can you squeeze into the ~$2500 you're still holding?
Option A:
Volk TE37's x4........................=~$3000
Michelin PS2's 255/35 & 295/35..= $1,268 (Tirerack.com)
A good $150 for shipping...........= ~$150
----------------------------------------
Grand Total..............................~$4418
You get props for top name gear, lightweight performance rims made by one of the top names in the business, and shave somewhere around 25 pounds off your corners.
Option B:
9.5"x4 P45R's.........................=~$900
Michelin PS2's 255/35 & 295/35.= $1,268 (Tirerack.com)
JWT Popper...........................= $120
AAM/Dyne Plenum spacer.........=~$270
AAM Max-flow cats.................= $600
Tack on somewhere around $250-300 for misc shipping
---------------------------------------
Grand Total...........................=~$3500
You've now got sweet looking, eminently functional rims, top of the line performance rubber, 20-25 more rwhp, a demonic engine growl (thanks popcharger!), crisper throttle response, a smoother powerband, and shave somewhere around 15 pounds off your corners.
The bottom line is this:
Listen to the people that tell you to do what makes you happy, and ignore the rest. The good ones will even guide you through the process of making it happen. To the latter half of the residents, remember that many of us are new at this, but we're learning fast. Being elitist about your hardware is going to ensure that your rides are very, very nicely outfitted, but the costs of such development is prohibitive to say the least for many of us, and are largely superfluous for those without intent to build show quality cars. We're all in it together with the same passion for driving our Z's and G's, but we all have different targets we're shooting for. Don't shut out your fellow brethren by being unyielding in your opinions, simply embrace the diversity and help us maintain confidence in our goals.

Love it.
BTW, if you really want to be fair, you could add an 1100 dollar catback to your list of mods and be dead even.
