the best tire to get is something with a 400 treadwear. this tire will last 3 to 4 times as long as the bridgestones. the cupping will not go away it will only be slowed. Nissan is currently being sued for this flaw but don't hold your breath.

Nissan gave me 4 michelin pilot sports. 400 or 420 treadwear (i can't remember) The tires cupped and the noise was back after 6,000 miles as opposed to 1,500 from the 2 sets of oem bridgestones. I have an 04 and it cupps. Nissan is playing a shell game with the "fix". Anyway the rear pilots wore extreme in the middle within theses 6,000 miles. I always had the proper air pressure in the tires, so the failure got me thinking. I dIscovered
the acceptable rim width of the pilots was different than the bridgestones. Different size rims (mixed with different tires that have specific rim width ranges) can cause the tire to be deformend into a shape that will either wear the center (rim too thin) or the outside (rim to wide)
The bridgestones rears did not wear improperly, but the pilots wore like a ***** only in the middle of the tread.
I currently have 2 sets of oem tires and rims. the oem rims/tires i bought had the new oem bridgestone front tires and they were basically brand new, So i have them on my car now. I suspect within another 1,000 miles they will become noisy at which time i will have the front pilots swapped on the rim and run them for another 6,000 miles until i throw them in the trash.
To answer your question.:
i figure when i have to buy tires it will be khumo's , at 90.00 for the fronts and 110.00 for the rears with a tread wear rating of 400 i figure this is the mopst cost effective way to keep shoes on my z until i sell it or nissan steps up and fixes it.
