Default THE OFFICAL - TIRE Feathering VIN Soup

Hey - let's start some tracking of the tire feathering issues that seem to be coming up more and more frequently. I am currently experiencing the problem and would be interested in knowing if it's only lower VINs that are suffering. Please post the following:

1. Date Received Z
2. VIN #
3. Miles
4. Amount of noise
5. Been serviced yet - yes or no / what has been done
6. IF you have the before and after camber/caster settings...
7. Feedback on experience

As we did for VIN Soup, I will track this issue via a online spreadsheet. PLEASE NUMBER ALL RESPONSES. This will make tracking easy for everyone to view online through the spreadsheet. Looking forward to your answers

1. Sept 10th
2. 839
3. 9850 miles
4. LOUD between 15-40
5. Cross rotate and balance, "alignment"
6. Am tracking
7. Dealer hesitant to go the extra mile on this one. I get the sense Nissan is not backingup dealers and this could be a long term problem not a short term tire fix.

Default You might move this to the Problems forum

1. Date Received Z --- Sept 1, 2003
2. VIN # --- 725
3. Miles --- 4500 when first noticed, 7k tires have been replaced
4. Amount of noise -- terrible at 5k-6k miles
5. Been serviced yet - yes or no / what has been done ---

Yes took care to dealer had them check alignment. Settings were way out front and rear for toe only. I called NNA to request front tires be replaced. After confirming with the dealer that the tires were gone NNA agreed to give me new tires.

6. IF you have the before and after camber/caster settings...

Camber and caster did not change and was well within spec. However front and rear toe settings were way out. They average about 100% out of the spec range. I will update with actual before and after later.

7. Feedback on experience
Overall good so far. The trick to getting new tires is to file a complaint with NNA and request new tires. Then when NNA calls the dealer to confirm the tire wear just make sure the dealer backs you up and says the tires are gone. That is the trick of it.
Only time will tell if this fixes the problem for good. If my problem coninutes I will pursue NNA to fix it for good or buy back the car. This is a ******** pre-production problem.

I'll be posting all the information here:

Thank you for your feedback as we work to figure out how serious the problem is.

3. 2,000
4. None
5. No
6. N/A
7. I keep checking for any abnormal tire wear, especially on the front inside edges. Very slight feathering is noticed on the inside half of the tire tread, but it could be just normal wear. I drive fairly conservatively.

1. 9/10/02
2. 767
3. 6900
4. Significant
5. Complained at 5000 miles, then again at 6400. Printed out tire feathering thread, and they agreed to do an aligment. Toe was near the maximum limit, but they adjusted it towards the minimum and swapped the tires right to left and vice versa per the TSB.
6. Nope
7. My dealer won't do anything unless it's been approved by Nissan. I feel that Nissan still has not corrected the problem, owes us a fix, and a set of replacement tires or at least a partial subsidy towards the purchase of another type of tires.
