BTW...Will you be sending your car over to Universal Air or will you/local shop be doing the install of their unit?

 

I will be doing my own install so I can help customers with their installs as well. I am an official dealer for them now as well

I will also be doing a full DIY as well!

w3rd, I'm doing the same stretch on 18" wheels too; 18's because I am keeping stock body and staying low and I can do 12" rears with 18's

Putting way too narrow a tire on wheels that wide. Its not only ugly (IMO) but unsafe. Unsafe how you ask? If you get a nail in a tire that stretched, when the air pressure goes down, the tire bead will separate from the wheel because of the stretch, and the car will be out of control.

Its one thing to safely steer a car to the side of the freeway with a flat tire. Try doing it when the tire bead releases. Once that happens, you have ZERO braking power in that wheel because the tire will spin independantly of the rim.

What are we driving, a FIAT? The braking power on our cars is more than enough. In a situation such as that, as long as you stay calm and react cautiously, I seriously see no problems.

And a 275 on an 11 is barely a strech at all (same with the 245 on the 10 up front). Streched tires are done in the racing world more often than not. How many times have you heard of their beads blowing? A streched tire not only has its obvious benefits with clearance in the fender walls, but it also provides a greater contact patch which in turn HELPS traction and braking power.

And FYI, generally speaking, a 245 series tire can fit anywhere between an 8-9.5" wheel and a 275 series tire can fit anywhere between 9-11" wheel. I bet you I could go down to my local tire shop and have them remount my tires without hearing a word out of their mouth about it being "unsafe."

Not flaming at all, the only reason I responded is because you asked me to. I've not made a single negative comment about you. I'm just commenting on what I know is true. Stretching tires such as this is NEVER done in the racing world. I agree that you could go to your local tire shop and they will not say anything negative. Their 8th grade education and $7/hr earning power puts them in no position to determine road worthyness of a tire.

daily driven. cake. I will go 265 next time.

Xotic on vipstylecars has been waiting for his Borphes for sooo long for his SC. They are really nice quality.

 

Haha Pete from Vertex USA called me too and told me that my offsets are on the forum. But I basically gave them away anyways after I posted the lip size and disk type

 

Love the lip/fitment, but don't like the spoke pattern. Expensive yes, but hot? No...imo.

Crazy how much more stretched a 30 profile looks though. I ran 275/35/19 on a 10.5 rear, and it didn't look nearly as crazy as that! Props for that...
