Bad idea. Breaks up the trade block and makes the tires alot more sloppy. its a good way to ruin street tires. IIRC it's used by off-roaders sometimes.

 

Consumer Reports recently conducted before and after siping tests. The article is a good read.

not a good idea for improved dry traction. Kills the longevity of a tire too. Mostly used for 4x4 and winter weather traction....... to my knowledge...

 

How many of you have actually tried this? I have and I'd recommend it. Used to have a built 5.0 Mustang that I ran year 'round. Had 10 holes w/ skinnier tires for winter use. Had them siped and the difference in wet/snow was amazing. I agree there's no point for dry traction. Probably not worth it if it doesn't see snow either.

The cuts aren't that deep. Not enough to make the tire feel mushy.

 

I used in once, many years ago. It was good for snow traction but dimished the dry handling.

 

If someone can make a buck off it, then its good for you... (thats how alot of stuff is in the auto industry unfortunatly)...

Best traction on dry pavement is going to be from a SLICK tire...

The only reason passenger tire has tread is for water and rocky road scenarios... The good "Wet" tires are going to have those anyway...

Is it going to help you driving your car on dry roads or anything like that... No... Live in a rainy area... it will improve wet traction... if you have good wet tires to begin with, its useless...

in my opinion that is!
