The fastest guys in stock HP S2000's are usually Doug Hayashi, Aaron Bitterman and Jason Keeney, and none of them ran with you that day. They are usually only 3-4 seconds behind David's SC S2000, which would put them 8-9 seconds ahead of your time on stock tires.

Like I said, slap some race tires on your Z and have fun.

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means trying to put down your runs with your Z. I'm sure that I couldn't match those times even on race rubber. I'm just saying that without the race tires on it, everything else is a little more than speculation.

Yeah, I am gonna have to get race tires. No doubt about it, everything is just speculation until it's all equal. For the time being though the only thing that is equal is comparing a street tired car. Next time out I should be on race rubber though. So we shall see. BTW, there is no way I am putting that giant wing on my car no matter how much time it's good for!!! LOL

Depends on the track, but at Buttonwillow in that config it was worth 2 seconds, maybe more.

Yes, I was there in my S2000. Only ran the morning sessions, which is unfortunate, because people seemed to quicker in the final two sessions (less traffic? as you mentioned). Only ran a 2:06, but there was another second or two in it I think. Buttonwillow has always been my bugaboo, but its getting better now that I've been there a couple of times in the same year.

Wish I could get out to more Speedventures events (they're the best - between the timing and the level of drivers, you get a real education), but the dyno business and my other business interests are taking up a lot of my time.

Default suggestions

I am not planning on tracking my Z but would like good handling. I am also concerned with porposing. Here are my questions:

1. Do you think i am better off getting the NISMO suspension than Eibach?
2. how much is the NISMO suspension ?
3. How much for NISMO sway bars?

thanks, Jeff

You are definitely better off getting the full Nismo spring/shock combo as they are meant for each other.

The g-attack shocks+springs are $1200 shipped from gruppe-s.com and the sway bars are $550 shipped, also from gruppe-s.com.

Do I need to get the sway bars at the same time as the NISMO suspension. My first problem is to eliminate the porposing.

Just the shock/spring combo will get rid of the porpoising.

The sway bars will help to reduce body roll.

J Ritt,
How do you know that this stagger combo was intended for Nismo's kit and where can I read about it?

Also, if I just left the stock Track rims and tire sizes, will that work well with the NISMO kit? Track stagger is (225/245).

Thanks

I wonder how the Nismo suspension will work with my 265/295 tires?

That is the exact size Nissan recommends in the paperwork that comes along with the S-Tune Kit.

I don't run that, I run 245F/255R and that seems perfect to me.

Steve,

Great review! I don't track my car, but I am disappointed in the suspension of my "track" model. I think you're absolutely correct: The Nismo S-Tune is the suspension that should have come with the track model.

Just one question: Where would you recommend I purchase the setup, and how much did it run you?

Thanks again for some great info.

raceboy - do you have any pics of your z with the s tune setup? You mentioned a slight drop and I was wondring what it did to the looks of the car.

simple question, and it is probably just a matter of nomenclature, but is the S-Tune Kit the same thing as the Nismo G Attack Suspension System found here? ThanksNismo G Attack Suspension System

I believe that the s-tune kit is the same thing. If it is not, the S-tune kit may include the sway bars as well.

Steve,

I just had my Toyo 245/45/18F and 255/45/18R ts-1's delivered and my Nismo S-tune kit and sway bars will be delivered in late April. Is this the same set up you are running, or did you install aftermarket wheels (19's) on your Z?

Alex,

If I recalled correctly, Steve had the tire set up on Stock Track Rims.
