I actually like it because of the interesting contrast. Theres a few members on these boards who have pulled it off pretty nicely.
It works depending on wheel type, size, offset and stance of the car.
Since the color of the wheel will contrast so much with the car, you need the rest of those elements to make it belong.

I used a Nikon D50 using shutter priority on the rolling shot. I believe it was set at 1/80.
