I really like the BFG KD. (BTW, the KDW2 is not a summer tire and not anywhere near as grippy as the KD)

I think you're confusing the KDWS (esse) which is an All season tire with the KDW2 (two) who is a summer tire.

For a tire with mediocre tread wear I would recommend the Falken Azenis RT615. I am running this setup now as a street/autoX combo and can say they are great. I do not anticipate lasting very long, however. Also, I am not a drag racer so I cant say how these “hook” for typical drag situations. I can say that for the cornering demands of autoX they work great.
For decent street and strip use I would go with the BFG KD T/As, BFG KDW 2s, or the Nitto NT555. In order of grippy-ness, it would be the BFG T/A KDs, Nitto NT555, and then the BFG KDW 2s. In order of treadwear, it would be the BFG KDW 2, Nitto NT555 (BOTH have treadwear of 300 so they are about equal as ratings are concerned), and the BFG T/A KDs (200 treadwear, similar to the Falken Azenis). Again, I am not a drag racer, so I cant give you first hand experience, but these would be my primary choices.

Thanks everybody. I was on vacation and did not have time to respond. Anyone else interested in their input?

eurotuner tested tires in 2005. I am not certain if all these tires are available in the United States. For results see: http://www.eurotuner.com/techarticle...ide/index.html.

Hey David, how is the noise with the eagle F1's? This seems like a great tire, just want something quiet as well. Also, any recomedations as where to get these reasonably?

Consumer Reports rates the noise level as “very good.” I agree.

B F Goodrich KD's here...REALLY sticky and hold the car well. Although I so really miss my Mich. Pilot sports. They were quiet, smooth and really stuck my car to the road.
