Default Tires for SSR GT1

I was thinking of getting a set of stagerred SSR GT1 with a 8" fron and a 9" rear. I was going to go with a set of Pilot Sports, what size would be optimal. Tire rac recommends a 225/45/18 for the front and a 245/45/18 for the rear. When I asked a buddy of mine he said I should go with a 245/40/18 for the front and a 265/35/18 for the rear. Any suggestions?

Ohio350Z...

I went with the same dimension wheels (except iForged instead of SSRs). Currently waiting on them to arrive, but have 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 Potenza SO3's waiting in the garage to mount. Recommended sizes from Bridgestone are 0.5" wider, but they will easily fit on your size rim.

More importantly (for me), these sizes are virtually identical ride height to the stock 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 set up that comes on the car. Translation... same amount of feel from the road and no speedometer reading differences.

I did a 235/40/18 on a 8" in the front and a 275/35/18 on a 9" in the back.... I did this because I had the 17's and they are a hair lower than the factory 18's anyway. Combo looks good and a couple mm's lower than stock....
