Default Taking my volks apart

In the next couple of weeks i am going to be getting my volks powdercoated gold in the center and i will have to take the wheels apart. Are there any particular things to watch out for are to consider when taking the center section off the wheel. I assume i just need a socket set with a allen wrench to take the face off? Do you re-apply loctite when reassembling everything? Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you don't strip or break the bolts is #1. When you put them back together you need to individually seal each bolt (Silicone) and I wouldn't recommend loc tite. This is key otherwise you will have a slow leak and you'll end up redoing it all over again if not sealed correctly. Call a Volk rep and see what the specs are for the torque on the bolts. Each manufacturer has their own specs.

Thanks for the tips.

I am just unbolting the face of the rim so i will not have to worry about resealing anything. I was reffering to using loctite on the bolts that attact the center face of the rim to the barrel of the rim.

The bolts/nuts on my volks spun off with my fingers once broken loose. I did though use blue loctite putting them back together. You can use red if you like, red is stronger than blue.

Not recommended but:

a. Mark the 2 pieces and put them together the same way that they came apart.
b. Locktite.
c. Torque driver. Not certain of the specs, but be reasonable. More important than the torque number is that all fasteners be torqued the same.
