Don't trust tire ratings...
I found out today that the tire ratings are NOT universal. So if you look at the Bridgestone RE040 that have a treadwear rating of 140 and the Pilot Sports have a treadwear rating of 280. That doesn't mean that the Pilots will last twice as long. These ratings are done by the tire manufacturer. They are rating them against other tires in their own line up NOT other manufactureres tires. The only thing that is the same across the board are the speed rating. Treadwear, temp. traction are NOT universal. Just an FYI.................

But isn't there a universal 100 tire the government approved that they are basing their standard of? I mean tires regulation is controlled by government standards.
