Default Tire questions

Hey...

Anyone know much about Kumho Ecsta Tires, I'm getting some Volks, but my credit limit isn't high enough to cover new tires as well. So I'm hoping to buy tires seperately. I found some for sale locally that are for sale for 200:
(2) 275/35/18 rear - 6/32 tread
(2) 245/40/18 front - 6/32 tread

I'm not really well versed in tires so any help with sizing these up for my Z would be great. If you need any more information to point me in the right direction lemme know...

Help us out and answer the following questions:
  1. What size wheels are you getting..ie 18 x ? F and 18 x ? R?
  2. How much are they asking for the tires?

I haven't gotten the wheels yet...I was thinking 18x8 front 18x9 rear

They want 200 for all 4 tires...

Okay man I'm going to help you help yourself. I'll give you an example of how I figure this out the correct way.

My OEM wheels were 03-05

F Bridgestone RE040 18x8 225/45/48
R Bridgestone RE040 18x8 245/45/18

I first go to the Bridgestone website and look up the Tire Sizes and Specifications for the RE040s. For the overall tire rolling diameter you have 26.6" for the rears and 25.9" for the fronts.

Next thing you need to do is go to the Kumho's website. Since I don't know which Kumho Ecsta Tires you are looking at I will just us the Ecsta Supras. Look at the view printable spec sheet link and find the sizes you are considering.

For the 275/35/18s rears are 25.6" overall diameter and requires a 9.0-11.0" wheel.

For the 245/40/18s fronts are 25.7" overall diameter and requires a 8.0-9.5" wheel.

Right off the bat you can see your rears are too short. You would want a 275/40/18 in the rears at a 26.7" overall rolling diameter which the Supras don't offer. You would need to go with the SPT line. Your fronts are okay because you're pretty close. As for the tires, 6/32 is not much. Brand new tires come with 10/32s of thread life. 2/32s is legal balding so at most you got 4/32s of life. Repeat this process for the correct tires you are wanting to buy.

+1 to JDMFairladyZ33 comments..

I suggest you find a way to get the extra $400 and just buy some new tires man. You can get a brand new of falkens for $600. Not to mention, mounting/balancing costs, etc, etc.. when the old ones run out.
