Default Help with proper tire sizes for 06 base .....

Hello all,

My stock tires are slicks after only 13000 miles . I am going to replace them with Falken Azenis RT615 . Im not sure what tire size will be best .

The car is 06 base , and is my DD . I am a fairly aggressive driver and i love the turns as well.

TIA for the help and info .....

I am starting to have nightmares about tires.

Why not stick with the OEM size?

With the falken azenis there is no exact match for the rear tires .

Here is a list of the available sizes . Which set would be best ?

225/40R-18 92W XL B $143.00
225/45R-18 91W BLK $171.00
235/40R-18 95W XL B $152.00
245/40R-18 97W XL B $165.00
255/40R-18 95W BLK $168.00
255/45R-18 99W XL OW $216.00

The 255/45 sounds about right to me but the price jump is rather steep .

What do you think the 225/40 or 235/40 for the front and the 255/40 for the rear ?

You're asking to wreck your car with that application. This is a perfect example of what NOT to do.

I would probably try 245 front and 255 rear.

Default I disagree

I run 265/35/18's on the front and 295/35/18 on the rear of my 350Z, but I have 9.5 rims in front and 10.5's in back. Using that set up, I am solid on turns and was running high 139's to low 140's at willowsprings. However, I bet I could drop a second and get a little higher speeds with a little bit smaller tire.

If you are going to run a stock wheel, 245's all the way around is nice or try 235's or 245's in front and 255's in the rear if you want the stagger. It all depends on your driving and driving skills. Just remember, there is such a thing as too big a tire.

Just my

Do you have pictures of your setup? Just curious to see what 285s look on 8.5" wide rims. What kind of tires do you have?

Your 2 cents do not apply to the question that the OP was ask nor does it have any relevancy to Mid117 statement that I commented on. He's claiming to have 285s and 255s on STOCK WHEELS. So before you disagree, understand that there's a huge difference between running those widths vs. on a proper application such as 9.5/10.5. On an 8.0/8.5 wheel, the tires will stick out pass the wheel and the sidewalls will not have proper support. There's even a good chance you can roll the tire bead off the wheel during hard corning. I would love to see the OP and you run fast on the hwy changing lanes with 285s in the rear on 8.5 wheels without loosing stability. Please read carefully before you give out advice to people.

Edit: I am running 255/285s just fine also on 19x9.5 and 19x10.5. That is what you call proper application. For those of you who don't understand proper tire application, look up any tire and check out the min-max wheel range given for each size. There's a reason that info is listed.

i guess it depends on the tire manufacturer. Not all 285 tires have narrow tread width like Michelins. i'll probably get 275/40/18 for my 06 rear rims cuz they are readily available.

255/40 235/40. shorter sidewall = bigger contact patch & stiffer sidewalls
