The shop told me just to drop it off so i did and gave them the keys.

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of most shops. Shops that I have been to have a disclaimer that they are not responsible for theft, fire or damage to your vehicle if left at the shop. Kind of stupid, but it's a way that shops avoid fraudulent claims against them. I agree though that the detail shop should have had your car in the garage.

I don't think I would even trust the Nissan Stealership with my car... You go in for an oil change, next thing you know you need a new tranny, new motor, alignment, tires and paint job.

In Hawaii!!!!!! I can't believe that would happen in my favorite place in the world.

+1 A local member had his car stolen right at the nissan dealership... "someone" managed to walk into the service area and take the keys and steal the car...

do the Time attacks have any special markings? (I doubt it)

you should check some powdercoaters in your area and ask if they have done any rims like yours lately.

wow, that really sucks. I detail cars for a living and if any cars stay over night, they are locked in our detail bay with the keys locked in the office. I would never think about leaving a car unattended outside overnight.

I have an alarm that when the car is jacked up the alarm is triggered and stops thieves stealing wheels.

Can insurance companies really carry out a criminal investigation on a shop?

The insurance company can get with local law enforcement, and maybe uncover some sort of criminal ring. If there have been other incidents from the same shop, there could be something going on. It is important to get some sort of police report, or investigation of the shop.

Its most likely an inside job. Nevertheless the shop should have locked up your car inside. That is thier responsibility.

Bumpin-

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but do you think that it could eb an inside job as in the place that you left it at found the keys and used them to get the wheels then played dumb when they reported it?
