Default Need Help Picking Correct Tire Size

I have been searching threads and reading reviews and have finally decided to go with Vredestein Sessanta. I am having an issue figuring out what the biggest footprint i can put down is.

the size they make i think i want is 295/30R19. according to the tire calculator this tire requires a 10.5" rim. I have stock gt rims-with no intention of replacing yet.

the tire calculator indicates that the 295/35/R19 will fit my 10" rim.

this tire size is not made for the Vredestein Sessanta.

i thought the 30 and 35 in the tire description designate the profile size, not the width of the tire and the 295 designate the width.

Do i understand the numbers wrong? is the tire calculator wrong?

All i really want to know is if the 295/30R19 will fit my stock GT 10" rim- the information i have "searched" was inconclusive.

thanks for the input.

p.s. if this is a noob question and it bothers you....dont bother to respond-

thanks,

It seems these will fit and are the ideal size.

but it does leave me wondering why 2 different tire "calculators" returned different results.

i would be interested in the feedback of anyone running the 295/30r19 on the gt rim.

The overall circumferance of the 295/30/19 is going to be 1 inch smaller (25.9 inches) or more then the stock tire... Plus its going to buldge a bit on a 10 inch rim...

Can I make a suggestion to look into a 285/35/19 (26.9 inches) it will fill the wheel well more appropriately and still give you a large "footprint"...

personally I buy my tires from these guys below and on the left side just select the tire size and when you pick the tire you can view all the specs like diamater, weight etc...

I am going to try a 285/35/19 and 255/40/18 setup when I need new tires. I think a 295/30/19 and 265/35/18 setup would be nice but not sure if you would get rubbing. I think the bulge would be minimal.

As for the tire diameters:
265/35/19 26.3in
285/35/19 26.9in
295/30/19 26.0 in

The 295 is actually closer to stock. Less sidewall of course. I think any of the above mentioned setups will work with VDC.

One other thing is that there can be a big difference in tread width appearance and measurement based on brand, and sometimes even within a brand. You can find 285's that will measure the same as another brands 295. Just something to think about.

If you do replace the tires, remember to put some pics up.

Isn't the track rims rear 245/45/18? If so that is 26.7 in diameter which is actually closer to the 285/35/19.. and if you base it on the 235/50/17 rear tire of the base/enthusiest thats 26.3 and you would be correct but... THe wheel well gap is horrific with those tire sizes...

The 295/30/19 on a 10 inch rim is going to look weird in my opinion since it will bulge a bit and also not fill the wheel well up approriately.

All of this is our opinions, so do what you like with them.

06 and 07 GT (ie track) wear a 265/35/19 from the factory.

I agree the profile would be a little lower with the 295, and without any lowering it would not look right. I think a 295 on a 10" rim is at the recommended limit (or just above it) for most tires.
