Default tire fitment? tire stretch?

ok heres my situation. I want to get 18 x 8.5 all around. Yes i know these are not optimal sizes but this is one of my options and i want to plan it out first.

on a 18 x 8.5 wheel the suggested tire width would be 245. My question is, is it alright to run 225? How badly stretched is this?

The reason im putting 225 there is because i had purchased tires in 225-45-18 and they are VERY new. I would like to run it out before purchasing new tires.

So the set up would be: 18 x 8.5 all around with 225/45 front and 245/45 rear.

Now i KNOW that this is not the desirable look with the Z but right now i just want to know if these sizes will work, and if the fronts will be noticeable stretched or not. Thanks alot guys

245 mm plus or minus 20 mm will be fine.

+1...you can even push the limits further, but it'll start depending on the type of tire. (most all 275's can fit onto a 8.5" rim)

Depends on the brand as well, some tires brand run wider than others in the same size

yea 225 goes on an 8" tire, so half inch more shouldnt hurt.
tirerack has the minimum and maximum specs of alot of tires if you want to check it out yourself

I have 225/245 on 18x8.5 all around...could go wider, but I wouldn't go any narrower than a 225 on a 8.5, mines a bit stretched, but not much.

wow, an actual response from you

Kspec, yeah i saw that the maximum wheel size for 225 was 8.5 but that was the borderline size and i wanted to get any insight from the members here

I have Falken FK452 tires. Do these run larger or anything that might affect the sizing?
