Default Volk GT-C and TPMS

Hi guys, i read the faq and it answered most of my questions but not all and I want to make sure i understand this.I tried searching as well. I just bought my z and im buying some 19' Volk GT-C with tires from another member. Im trying to understand what process i need to go through and how to accomplish getting the TPMS on the new rims. Ok so we are doing a swap, my stock 03 track rims and tires for his volk gt-c and tires. From what i gather i need to get the tires dismounted, take the sensor out get the tires, remount the tires, then give him the stock rims. When i receive him rims/tires i need to have the dismounted TPMS installed then im good to go? Am I missing anything? Can anyone do this or is nissan dealer the best choice. Thanks Nick

That's essentially correct. Any reputable tire shop can handle it. You don't want to trust Volks to just anybody.

Just make sure when you have each sensor removed, to mark them to indicate which wheel they came from. You might need to put them back on the same position (front left back to front left) when doing the swap over. You didn't indicate which year Z you have, one the 03-06's you want to keep the sensors on the same positions so the pressure display is correct.

oh sorry didnt realize there was a difference in the sensor. Its an 03 track. Will the nissan dealer rape me price wise, also what should i expect this to cost. I literally have no idea. And the Volk GT-C will work with the TPMS

If you do put them on different wheels than what they came off of, the dealer can reset them to be correct. The tech at the dealership I go to didn't charge me anything, but service writer had quoted me a pretty hefty price to do it (I'm thinking $90 bucks for a reset, but that might be wrong. I know it was a ridiculous). Your best bet though is to get a Sharpie and mark 'em.

There's not a difference in the sensors over the years, it's the computer display in the car that's different. The later (07+) cars don't show the individual pressures. If you mix the sensors up, then they won't be displayed properly in the computer.

A tire shop will probably be cheaper for getting them dismounted and remounted. Dealer with charge normal labor rates which are pretty high.

Any wheel will work, the problem comes in mounting. If you read my TPMS thread, you saw that there are only a few known wheels that the sensors mount to directly as they do in the OEM wheels. Multi-piece wheels require that they be banded to the wheel barrel. I believe that's the case with the GT-C.

ok thank you so much, the rims i was gonig to be are highly damaged and bent which i was not expecting. He said damaged aka curb rash but front tire is actually bent a bit. There is a set of Nismo rims which in your post says will work fine. Im aiming for those
